Right well 11 days the car was back on the road and then the head gasket went!

I started to replace that.

Posted Image

Well and truly shagged lol.

Posted Image

anyway once the gasket was off I cleaned the top of the block off and it looks like I have a crack across the block between chambers 3 and 4. This is where the gasket blew. So its looking like the engine need to come out again stripped down and then sent off to be decked.

I have so much luck with cars lol.

If it's cracked, a deck won't sort it. A cracked block means you need a new one unfortunately buddy.

Well heres a pic of it. I went out with my dads fancy camera and got a pic. It only seems half a ml deep.

Thinking I may just put the 998 from Jenny in it!

just try and give it a wet and dry, as it could be a carbon build up, if its still there then the blocks is as much use a choclate tea pot.

this happened on my 7 port engine

Well I do think the block is scrap to be honest but I came up with a bodge. Well my friend did anyway. I got some of that liquid metal stuff and put the smallest amount over the crack and rubbed it down. Im waiting for it to harden and I'm then just gonna but everything back together and see how long it lasts! Lets see if I can beat my current 11 day record.

Probably worth searching for a new engine aswell though, as I cant image liquid metal lasting long.

Bad luck though mate.

I'll probs end up looking for a 1275 block anyway as I want one that I can get bored out to a 1293 to go in Jenny but thats not really desperate though so can wait a while.

Right. Well my bodge seems to be going well so far! The engines running quite well. I'm now gonna get this bored out 998 I bought off a mate and start rebuilding that to go in here.

O yes and I'v also decided I want some bright pink wheels. Just cause I can really.

Well she went all the way to beaulieu without too much trouble. Came stupidly close to mashing it in to the back of my mates mini van lol. Although TBF on me it was cause we both got insanely cut up buy a horse box. Their was lots of rain and no real auto jumble which sucked cause I love auto jumble so just spent a load of money at minimine. Nothing real exciting though. Just some wiperblades oil filter, chokecable, tow hook, headgasket, oil and a load of other random spares.

Hopfully we shall have a bit of good weather this week and I might do a few odd jobs to the car.

Thanks!

Well today is her 17th day on the road with no problems. A NEW RECORED. As shes been so good I bought her a present. Some curb feelers all the way from america. Not sure how I'm gonna fit these yet but I'm hoping they will look quite cool. Should be different anyway as its not something you normally see on a mini.

Posted Image

I have a few other little jobs I would like to do. I'm gonna try and find time to paint the rear drums black and give the rear subframe a coat of paint before Gaydon just to tidy her up a bit. I'm also gonna get the grill powder coated as the paints starting to peel of this one now.

Not a great update really but I'm bored lol. Thanks for reading anyway. :)
