It's not as bad as I'm making out, but it's big enough to be a large concern.. I can't justify spending more time or money on her until it's sorted, seems daft if I need to strip her down to sort the rust out.
The main affected areas are up underneath the scuttle, the engine bay & inside the wings.
I need to get some spotlights in the garage and inspect every area this weekend, I'll get some detailed photos so you lot can advise me on what I'm best to do.
From a legal point of view I'm not entirely sure on where I stand.

I then filled the seams with Electrox zinc primer before peening them back. I'm looking for a Mini to refurb at the moment and no doubt will have to split most of the seams. I also wouldnt use Waxoyl, I did some tests with it and it's useless. Dynax is a much better product. There is an index on page 1 of the above thread which lists suppliers.
Keep up the good work

I haven't forgotten about the mini & I intend to make an effort with this rust somehow.
I'm hoping to get in the garage tonight so I can document it all & I'll put up the photos to show you lot, you can advise me on the best plan of action.

What would you value my mini as? Given you all know the extent of the work, time, attention to detail, effort & money spent over the last few years.

Ermmm I dunno mate to be honest, your gonna have to give more to go on than that. Just the shell or all the parts associated or just some?
I hope your not thinking of calling it a day Mr Turner! Your not allowed (and nor am I for that matter!)!

Insurance valuation would be very high, as if something were to need replacing, it would cost a lot to get it to the standard it's at now.
If you were to sell it, however, you'd have to lower your horizons. As beautiful a state it's in, it's not a specifically rare mini, so wouldn't go for a massive wad.

It's this rust issue that's killed me.. I can't afford to put it straight and despite earning a salary now I'm struggling to see every month through & still have a fair amount to put to one side.
I just feel like selling it and paying off debts.
Even if I could afford to finish it I'd have to maintain it, insure it and run it whilst running my daily..
I'd sell it as it is, an unfinished project.
An insurance valuation, or what you're actually likely to get for it?

Yeah that's daft.. seems odd to spend so much money and it only be worth half of everything I've spent..
