What a careful and patient restoration. It is beautiful. Every single part is carefully reworked. Mine is pretty rough. I just restore the bits that are damaged. Keep up the super work.

Thank you so much Hugh!

No longer driving the Lupo as my little Sister is back from America soon so I'm now the owner of this!
The '79 won't take a back seat don't worry

I've been incredibly busy with my placement in Mansfield & other things, but I'm now going to try and get almost every evening in the garage to make some headway.

Removed this damn thing.

Moved the good stud on the far left across one so I could continue to make progress. Filed down some washers as well to make them fit.

Carb loosely sat on there.

I really wasn't happy with having two jacks under the front subframe as I could hardly get at the bottom of the engine to work, I was having to squeeze in between and it didn't feel overly comfortable / safe.. so I jacked it up a little and made a platform out of bricks & a long plank of wood.

It feels so stable & secure now.. also leaves the underside of the engine completely free so I can work from every angle.

With this new found ease it was a doddle to knock the roll pin out and sort this error out.
More progress tomorrow night!

Needed to strip apart the brakes again so I could pull the driveshafts out to get the pot joints on.

Although this happened..

I managed to get one side off but it completely sheared when I did the O/S.

& the lad came to pick all this lot up! So that's some money in my pocket (although it's just paid off a tiny percentage of my overdrafts..) but it will allow me to get some more parts and make some proper progress.

How much did you end up getting for your mass amount of parts?
Atleast it's onwards and upwards. I feel as though I'm getting very close wiht mine now but as ever it's slow progress still haha.

£400 for all, worth a fair bit more but I sold it as a job lot.. cleared a huge amount of room, gave me a big chuck of money & saved me an awful lot of time rather than selling it all individually!

Looking good, nice progress. Don't forget to tighten up the carb nuts, I made that mistake, then wondered why it was running crap. Noticed there was only one nut loosely holding the carb on. It blew out the gaskets so had to get new!!
Just seen you but cheers! Yeah I haven't tightened that up yet.. I sold the carb plate in that job lot.. think I'm going to have to buy it back from him, ha!
I hadn't noticed this thread before, nice project. I took all the bits out today and photographed them. I'm going to keep some bits and sell the rest soon. Took me hours to get it sorted haha
Thanks Ollie! Took me a day to sort it all to begin with! Good luck with your project, nice to know the parts are being put to good use.
WoW... just W O W ! ! !

Re read the entire thread, loved it to bits! Fantastic mini, even saw the wing mirrors i'd forgotten about!
Yeah thanks mate! Unsure what I'm doing with those.. bit scared of drilling into my doors in all honesty.. probably be one of the last jobs I do when I finalise the seating position etc..
I signed up just to post this .................................. Phenominal work , wow just wow well done
Welcome to TMF! & thank you!
Fantastic work, love the build!
Cheers matey!
So I managed to pick a new ball joint splitter up during the week, luckily I drive into work on the same road that Machine Mart is on so that's handy!

So got them off, all greased up and ready to assemble to go in..

Both sides in!

Because I'm low on parts I was just doing odd jobs with the bits I had on the shelves, so another little job done.
This little bit of kit looks to be incredibly useful!

& James popped across

Really motivated me to stop being so damn perfect with mine and just get it on the road and enjoy it!
