Just read through this start to finish and love it.

Colour is similar to mine and have similar retro finish in mind!

Can only dream of full restoring mine to a standard such as yours, well done for the progress so far.

Cheers mate!

Yeah it's a lovely colour and I've only seen a few around!

Yours is looking really nice already, I'll keep tabs on it.

AMAZING!
Haven't caught up on this in quite a while, You have completely obliterated my progress!
The paint really does look incredible. I'm not going to hide the fact that I'm genuinely exited to see it all come together now.
She really is one of the best on TMF!

I'm going to go grind some rust off mine now
:bah:

Ah cheers Deemo! well you have been a bit busy with the Mongol Rally and all ;)

& I'm back at University now so no updates for a while, although I will be back at the end of January for the Bingley show :mrcool:

No idea yet!

I'll get a day in the garage on the Saturday so I can make a list of parts I'll need next.

I want to source a wiring loom this week so I can get that order and get it ran inside the cab etc.. also need to sort cables & pipes to go inside the cab..

Home for the weekend! Attending Bingley Hall tomorrow with my old man and little brother.

Bit limited again today as I really need to buy parts first, but I've been holding out till tomorrow so I can see what I'm buying and most importantly save on postage.

I did order a few parts whilst I was at Uni though..

Posted Image

PTFE lined fuel hose, to run inside the cab.

Posted Image

Posted Image

& fixed rear poly carb windows from ACW Motorsports.

Posted Image

Gave the heater parts another coat, happy with them now so I can rebuild it all at another date.

Posted Image

Pulled out all my gauges, switches and accessories so I could work out what I want to use and what I can sell.

Posted Image

Parts to keep.

Posted Image

How bloody good does that look!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Old wiring loom & someones improvised bulb holder.

Posted Image

So took the original one off, cleaned up the back of the gauge and wired it up with the conversion loom I bought a while ago.

Posted Image

Looking good!

Posted Image

Dark photo.. whoops! But it's all starting to look how I've been imagining it to look!

Posted Image

Then I fixed this reverse lamp, the little prong was angled wrong so wasn't earthing on anything.

Posted Image

One fiddly minute later.. light!

Which meant I could then get that secured and the rear bumper sat on.. but..

Posted Image

Disaster.. there isn't enough clearance! you can see how the hinge is pushing away the bumper and preventing it from dropping down into the hole..

Cheers you two! & no date.. just as quickly as I can!

Being in my final year and now my final months, University work means I'm finding very little time to free up a weekend and come home, those 2 days are vital to me at the moment.

Popped along to Bingley today with my Dad and little brother, absolutely heaving.. they definitely need to expand the show into another hall..

But I picked up these bits..

Posted Image

No where would sell me just the door handles so I had to buy a set, as I'm using a MK1 boot lid lock this MK3 onwards boot handle is for sale.

Posted Image

Fuel filler cap.

Posted Image

Engine steadies (opted for black rubber to keep it subtle looking) & door check straps, rubbers, pins & bolts for the front subframe tear drop mounts.

Posted Image

P-Clips for the fuel hose.

Posted Image

Master clutch.

Posted Image

Steering rack u-bolts.

Posted Image

New clear front windscreen.

Posted Image

I had a look at some other minis today and just realised that the rear bumper does sit incredibly tight, so with a little bit of force it did pop into place.

Posted Image

Just sat there, looking pretty.

Posted Image

Check straps in.

I'm heading back to Uni tonight :( but I'm going to place a bit Mini Spares & Moss order to give me plenty to crack on with when I'm next home.

You bought some nice bits at Bingley. Practical bits to move the project on too! It's definitely a show for buying bits, shame I didn't need anything

My rear bumper (genuine) was incredibly tight. It's okay once it drops down below the boot hinge, but you sort of have to force it past first. A wonderful job to do on a freshly painted shell!

Yeah it was the only reason I went to be fair.. I will have a gander at some minis if they catch my eye, but I tend to use these big shows now so I can have a look at what I'm buying first and to save on postage!

Thanks mate! I really am!
