Your bonnet is a late one, a MPi ('96 on) pressing but with the safety catch still on the side as with previous bonnets. I think the extra bracket in the centre is for the later type with the safety catch to the right of the lock pin.
Great project by the way, I'll keep following it closely

Hope you didn't cut the slits for the seams yet, as I think you've mixed front and rear. I also have these arches and the rears should stop above the rear valance/boot floor seam, the front ones extend further down on the front than in the picture.

Yes you are right! I was looking at someone elses project thread who has fitted W&P arches, he has either unfortunately fitted them wrong or bought some inferior copies that don't fit right.
I only had an hour so I've just cut the slits for the seams to get them roughly sitting in place, they still need fettling to get them spot on and I need to source seam covers which will mean some of the slits in the arches will need opening up a little. Then once I'm happy with that I can secure them and then take them out again to be painted.
Etched.
O/S front in.. (Ignore the door.. it needs some attention)
N/S front in..

Order from Mini Sport, I didn't realise the top arm rebuild kits came with the plates.. think I'll use the black coated ones so if anyone wants to chuck me a few quid they can have the bare ones.
I had already degreased these parts so now it was time to derust them as well..
& Ku-rusted. Will mask them up and give them a lick of Hammerite tomorrow.
Gave these parts another coat as well.

Indeed he does!
Managed to get home from work early today so meant I had an extra few hours in the garage which I welcomed greatly!
& my Moss package turned up as well so that was an extra bonus.. although they did that bloody annoying thing where they won't tell you which parts were out of stock and didn't get sent.. just let you work it all out yourself, so I rang up, had a word and they are now sending out some parts that should be in stock.
Always fun working out what goes where!
Nice new screw for the striker plate.
& I also ordered the screws for the locking mechanisms on the doors so they now fasten of their own accord.. the screws for the hinges were out of stock, but should be coming soon.
Lowered shock mounts in.
Then I lifted the front subframe up & in, secured only by the two towers bolts at this point in time.
Starting to get bits in.. I only need the vital parts to hold the wheels in place.
& a few more bits!
Dowels in.
Parts masked up.
Etched.
First lick of paint.. learnt from the top arms that it's best to do thinner coats and more of them to avoid runs!
Grouping things together to work out which nuts and bolts go where!
I didn't like this..
So gave them a trim.. too much? haha..
I was missing these washers & nuts so the rear subframe is almost complete.
Yup! and I'm shattered! Heading back to Uni this Sunday which will give me a few more nights & a full day on Saturday.

Few more jobs..
Another coat of paints on these parts.. might give them one more.
This seam needs some attention.
A bit of surface rust that I never got round to treating.
Dodgy weld.. this needs sorting as if its a bit fat then the seam strip won't fit over.
Slimmed that way..
But it then needed slimming this way..
So I very carefully cut into the welds with a 1mm cutting disc, after that I then squeezed the sides in.. on Saturday I'll blob some welds and then ground it all down to keep it together.
Cleaned up the bottom of the door so it's ready to weld on Saturday.
I welded up the wing mirror holes.. and then drilled this hole.. but now this needs welding up as I will be having some aluminium mounts so will weld up on Saturday..
And I wasn't happy with how I did this.. the left hand strip wasn't secured properly and I attempted to filler to cover the dents etc.. so I wire brushed out all the filler & took out the LH metal strip.. again, a job for Saturday.

Great stuff as ever You actually make me quite annoyed at myself that I didn't paint more of my bits when they have been off the car for running repairs!
It must feel good knowing you are ever closer to paint on the body!
Cheers mate! well I've had to revisit a few parts and strip them down again as they've started to rust, I must've done something wrong when I did it the first time round.. the hubs are the last thing to do, which will be a pain as I've built them up with brand new clean bearings and I don't want to get them contaminated with rusty dust, so I will have to cover the internals up somehow.
But it's amazing what some patience and a lick of paint can do! I want to do a comparison shot of the driveshafts, cv boots & pot joints when they are done.
Too many updates over the last couple of days !!! haha, my front seams were like that, so i chopped the front end off!!
Where did you get the lowered shock mounts from?
cheers
Ha I know, I've been working hard after work!
The lowered shock mounts were from Mini Speed I think, can't remember how much!
