Few more jobs ticked off the list..

Looks good ;) but..

What's going on here? (does anyone else have a photo of their MK1 grille from this angle, I assume it should sit flush..)

Posted Image

The rest fits nicely!

God knows how I'll get the nuts on behind and leave enough clearance for the window!

Gave the floor a clean and a dusting of etch as well.

try and fit the bonnet at the same time,if the grille lines up your front panel is out. Just a thought. does look good from the front!!!

Ah hmm.. I do have my MK1 fibreglass bonnet, which I had placed on before I'd tried the moustache on.. so perhaps it does fit right and it's the slam panel that's out.. I'll try after work tomorrow!

(I think/thought the MK1 fibreglass bonnet was an awful fit.. but perhaps not)

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Slam panel looks kinked to me in the middle Luke, should pull out with a bit of generous force. Make sure I'm right though first!

Aren't those wing mirrors, not door mirrors? I thought they were going on the wings, surely you'll struggle to see anything out of them on the doors?

Yeah I'll offer things up tonight and see how it all fits together.. regardless I'm still ditching the FG bonnet and opting for a NOS MK1 metal bonnet from someone off here.

Aye tell the truth you are right Adam! I didn't want to mount them on the wings & I've seen someone else mount them on the doors. That's also why I bought the overtaking mirror  be alright!

With regards to that bonnet, how are you fitting it?

Ah good question.. I meant to ask how MK1 bonnets mount, unsure if the hinges or catch are different etc.. but yeah I'm hoping to just use the hinges and catch :) nice and simple.

Going out tonight but I'll get the FG bonnet placed on to see if I can solve the current problem.

Mk1 Bonnets have different hinge positions, your best option would be a late Van or Pickup Bonnet! :)

How much different?

I'll just go MK3 and cut the lip off if it's too much hassle :)

Ta for that Photo Midas!

& yeah it did get bent a bit but I did bend it back.

Posted Image

Looks okay-ish..

Posted Image

I tried to photograph as best I could.. as you can see everything is a bit everywhere..

Posted Image

Posted Image

So pulling the slam panel forwards a bit.. & then compare to the photo from yesterday..

Posted Image

Better already!

Posted Image

& from the side.. already looking better. I'll wait till I get a metal bonnet on there and then start fettling.

Why red oxide over normal grey or zinc primer? Just trust it from past expierance?
