Getting hardly any time now I'm working and the weekends are too short! I'll hopefully get a few nights in this week though.
So yesterday was more tidying and welding.
I couldn't leave these alone.. last thing I wanted was water to sit and sink into these holes, so I welded them all up and tidied up the area.
Welded, ground and etched.
Coated in red oxide.
Welded up the wing mirror holes. Heavily considering buying these..
I saw them at the National Street Rod Association show, really nice brushed aluminium finish and they are very light weight.
Needed some attention, another hole..
Looking through the flitch panel.. made me laugh! How could you leave that and be happy with it.. the water and mud will just get into it straight away and cause problems!
That area was welded and then Ku-rusted.
Etched.
Red oxide.
Before I did all this I got Dad to lift the rear end up which meant I could slide the wooden horse further under, thus giving me access to the full rear end.. meaning I could then seam seal, underseal and then attach the rear subframe.
And I warn you.. the following image isn't pretty.
What a mess!
BUT.. there is a good layer of protection now, it's all out of sight and it will be covered with underseal
I need to get this lot out and sort the paint out on the arms, they were a reconditioned set from Mini Spares I think.. or maybe somewhere else. What paint would you recommend? I'll take them apart again so hoping to use an aerosol.

I don't know why the photos are so big, I've resized them.. photobucket annoys me.
Just been out to put a quick half coat of Underseal on, nipping out to a classic scooter show in the rain now

i used hamerite smooth from an aerosol and it turned out great
im sure you could use hamerite smooth from a tin and brush it on if your looking a good thick coverage

Threw a very quick coat of this stuff on the OS boot underside, yes it's thin in places and patchy but it was dark and I need to pick up a few more cans of the stuff, so it will be revisited

I'm not getting much time at the moment as I'm working hard and I'm also in training and preparing for the UKs Hardest Half Marathon this weekend called the Midsummer Munro, I'm raising money for Mountain Rescue, something my Dad was a part of for many years and something I hope to do when I'm out of University and settled down.
I'd love to hit the £200 mark, so help to make me run faster & harder!
Even if it's a few pounds, it's still a few pounds that will go to help fund this non-goverment funded life saving & voluntary organisation.

Amazing how much work it's taking for a rust free shell.
Looks like your nearly there now though.

Got an almost complete coat of underseal on the underside of the boot but ran out of cans.. so I need to order some more! And I gave the inside of the boot a good covering.
I've also written up a list of parts I need to order to make sure I can dry mount everything.. door seals, boot hinge screws, bumpers.. etc etc..
Got Sunday down as a garage day! Wake up at 7.. morning jog.. garage during the day.. go for a 20 mile ride at night.
Also did very well in the UKs Hardest Half last weekend with a time of 2 hours and 38 minutes! Raised well over £250 for Mountain Rescue as well

I've just ordered my 4 point harnesses and a belt cutter, hopefully won't be needed.. but for a few quid I thought it was a wise choice.
Annnnd I'll wait till Sunday to order the rest, need to sort out what bits I need to mount the doors up.. and the hinges will need cleaning as I'll get those painted body colour.

Marked up the holes for the airvents on some cardboard..
BAM, both sides cut out and ready to be welded in.
Also welded up the holes for the grille as they don't correspond for the holes needed for my MK1 moustache & grille. I don't want any unused holes left behind!
