Just had a complete read through, great build mate, cant wait to see the exhaust and engine bay 100% complete.

well this weekend went fairly well considering i was nursing a beastly hangover!

first off i finised the boot floor and it look ace! no photos really as it looks the same as the previous post just with no screws holding it in place.

today i thought it best to tackle one of the door skins, i started by removing all of the old skin and then repairing the frame of the door (no photos as it got dark when i finished) but i also decided to rebuil the hinges asi has broken one of the studs when i removed them

this was done but first driling out the old studs and then welding in place some new bolts and grinding down the heads. hopefully over the week i will be able to get the new skin on and welded in place then i can start to mess around with the door gaps which at the minute are all over the place!

ive also started to buy all the equipment and paint i will need to get the underside of the car totally finished so that i can get it rolling and back round the front of the house!

and finally ive been speaking to ben popham over at carbon weezel about some shiny bits so keep an eye out!

well its far too cold for me to go outside at the minute! so ive been buying shiny bits instead :)

here is the latest buy,





mini speeds new 7.9" vented alloy calipers and drilled and grooved discs! hopefully that should provide enough stopping power when the turbo engine is ready to go!

more good news is that i have a week off work soon so im hoping to get both doors fitting and the underside of the car all finished. maybe even have a rolling shell????

Shinny bits indeed, I'll be on 7.9" discs with 4 pots as well.

well just be careful with the 4 pots, because they are REALLY REALLY tight to fit under mini specials. but they look sooo good

okay some more progress today!

ive got the last few bits to get my brakes built up onto the front subframe and check that the wheels fit for sure! but ill take some photos of them once they are all built and ready to go.

this week ive been trying to get the underside finished and rolling (hopefull i know) but 70% of the floor is now finished :)






more work to do tomorrow so im going to try and get the whohe rear healf of the floors totally finished then move forward on friday

Looks good Ben, I recon you could mount a pretty awesome defuser off that section of floor sticking out of the back.

CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!! why do you keep doing this to me! stop giving me ideas which will cost me a fortune.

although, that was a future plan aha, the only thing is i dont want anything thats going to hang too low, so i was thinking of heavily modding the rear valance to look/act like a diffucer. but then the problem comes with me wanting a deseamed and debumpered look. but there is a plan for this which i shall be keeping secret until the valance goes on

some more work done today, spent around 7 hours out in the freezing cold though

im aiming to get the floors done this week so i can start to get it rolling, so ive just been filling in any holes left underneath and repair/replace any rust that i find (but i think its all gone )






and a cheeky photo with the exhaust in place, looks sooo good!!!

Very tidy Ben. Is that stone chip on the underside?? If so, how is it drying/setting in these temps??

Graham, it is indeed stone chip. I did a small test patch earlier in the week to see how it set and it came out fine so I went ahead.
It all seems to have gone on really well actually compares to the aerosol can I have. For some reason the aerosol I tried didn't seem to stick aswell as it did out of the gun.

hey guys,

i got some more done on the floors today, not as much as i hoped as i ran out of gas though.
couple of small patches between the heelboard and my exhaust tunnels and a larger patch underneath the handbrake mounts. ill pick up some more gas tomorrow and hopefully get the rear of the main floors finished by sunday.

finished the patches to the tunnels so ive got some more stonechip onto the floors, not too much left now untill its rolling i hope
