the cage is from "geronimo cages" but i wouldnt touch them again! service is aweful and the fit isnt too great. ill be adding tubes and modding it slightly to get a better fit aswell.

the exhaust was homemade from two universal style silencers and tube with pre-made rolled ends. ive decided to make another with some louder silencers as i can tell these ones will be very very quiet which is perfect for the road but i would like a louder system for shows and track.

nice one.

Youll have to let me know how you get on fitting the quick release boss mate, ive got one and im a bit stuck on how to do it. Ive got a weld on one but i think im going to machine ream the end out and peg it in.

ive spoken to my local machinist and hes going to machine down the end of my steering collumn (custom made) so that the hollow in the end of the boss slides over it. that way i can make sure the master spline is in the correct place and i will weld it up. it'll be a while till i get to that stage thought but im happy to send you some photos once its done if you like

Good to see you working Ben. Hope you've made a good recovery after your surgery. It's a thought to go and work out in the cold and dark. If you can fabricate rear lights like that I'd be impressed!!

thanks hugh, im back and running around now (albeit slowly) so i thought it should be about time to get back working on the mini. i think im going to have a crack at the rear lights, but ill do something similiar to the mk3-mk2 conversion plates so that if it goes wrong i dont have to try and remake the old holes.

took apart my rear subframe today so that i could mess around with the fit and modify it to sit over the new fuel tank recess in the boot floor.

once i get some CDS i will weld in a new rear brace and i can get the subframe blasted and coated then built up.

right, been out to do some more and i think im going to redo some bits (a lot)

rear heel board is worse than i thought, so im just going to replace the whole thing with a heritage panel, whilst putting some extra weld on the captive nuts. im also going to redo the boot floor as its made from 1.5mm steel which is too think for my liking. also a drivers rear wheel arch.

once that is done i need to figure out my problem with the passenger door and rebuild that as the doors rotten. then onto the drivers side which needs new outer sills and door step and the door reskinnign aswell.

then its onto the front end hopefully.

my dad keep arguing with me to get the car done but i want it done right so if i have to redo things and take longer then a will, else ill only be blaming him when im not happy with it once its on the road.

I didn't realise you had quite so much metal work left to do on it. O_O

What's the problem with the passenger side door?
