I don't know all the much about cars but I'm good with my hands. Do you think its possible for someone like me to get a mini into shape like this?

I'm not sure what you mean!. The shape of the car is due to it being fibreglass and thats how the minus mould is or do you mean metaphorically and just make a really good mini. I am 22 years young and am doing everything with my brother i want to inspire people that read this thread and show anything is possible. I do have some expensive parts but its from saving all my money and working and scrimping. Anyway if your inspired enough you can do anything my way of thinking is i am building the car for durability and longevity and exactly how i want it! I could spend the same amount of money on a modern car but it won't have half the amount of character and wouldn't be exactly how i want it. Also it going to be classed as a kit car in the end means i won't get screwed over by having to declare loads of modifications to insurers Im glad people are enjoying the read.I've just turned 19 and am about to start driving lessons. I'm planning on getting a £2k mini and doing some work on it and this thread has got me awestruck XD

This was it made out of steel and filler I have since made a mould and made it out of woven matt grp - strong and very light weight. I don't need it any more so I'm happy to sell it. You can use a normal rocker cover with this bonnet too! - or I've got a zeemax bonnet that would clear your carb too if you're interested?

Very nice bonnet but i have already started on mine and i am no having the centre ridge on it and only having a small bulge for the throttle body and filter. Thank-you anywayNice work so far. Sound idea about the rose joint for the metro m/c too. Also, I think I may have a bonnet that might tempt you! I'll post a pic up when I'm at home.

No pictures of the shell yet! I did receive a centre mirror in the post the other day. I think the stalk is too long but it can be easily cut down drilled and tapped. I will be mounting it onto a plate i will weld onto my roll cage Unfortunately i cannot show that either due to photobucket not working!
I will get more photos on soon.

Some shots of the shell:
Brothers old bonnet:
Rear windscreen fitted and in place with no gaps after a lot of fibreglassing:
Engine ready to be worked on:
Load of boxes containing all my good stuff:
Grill mocked up in place:
The grill will be powder coated satin black and the surround will be anodised black (surrounds are aluminium)
And finally today my safety devices roll cage :
The cage will be chopped to fit the shell and have a dash bar welded in via saddles, as mentioned before it will also have a platform for the rear view mirror to go on and also a rear bar will be welded in and plinths welded on it to anchor down my harness retractors.
Hope people enjoy this update!

well i've already got a new old stock non servo cylinder from a metro. What pushrod would are you referring to? i know it would have to be retained in some way thats why i thought of using rose joints or and inline ball joint. Thanks Alburglar.I've managed to find some new old stock non-servo versions of the metro master cylinder. £35. If you're interested I'll send you a link. It comes with the pushrod ready for a clevis pin.
