Right i have been trying to get a few things done but it seems to be one step forward and 2 bounds back!
From where i cut my roll-cages back legs off i started to smooth it all out which is such a time consuming job but the end result although it doesn't look like much is satisfying:

unfortunately I took a nick out of this one so I had it filled up with weld ready to be smoothed out again:

I also had some weld added to my one tower ready for me to grind and file down:

Painted bottom arm pins and rear brake arms with por15 then primer then enamel paint so hopefully will last :

Just a little thing to pass the time I drilled and test fitted my alloy sump guard. Gives any vehicle that Dakar look :

Finally i've been working on my rocker cover to fit under a standard bonnet:
Started by cutting off the existing caps neck then making a template cutting a piece of sheet to size and welding it in place:

So still a lot of things to finish off but hey Rome wasn't built in a day.

o.k so last time I left off showing a rocker cover cap place cut off with an angle grinder and a plate welded in place. However when my brother went to weld the neck and cap I have on the side it distorted and pulled it up against the side of the rocker cover meaning the cap couldn't be put on the neck. So I chopped it off and tried to rectify it by sanding back the welds, however part way through doing this it became paper thin and made it in lameness terms a mess.
So I got given a new rocker cover from the freebies section and set to work on it again. This time I sanded the inside lip of the filler neck and the rest fell out which means I can get a flush fit for the new metal circle I have cut for the top. I also marked out and drilled several holes then filed by hand a hole for a new angled tube to go into on the side:

I also got round to finishing of dressing all of my front subframe up :

I did do a shout out for a guy near me called spiyda for making me some bushes in PTFE for my modified steering column and for turning down the small filling weld on the column from cutting off the old steering lock collar on it which wouldn't have worked with an MPI barrel:

The scalpel is pointing to where the weld was

Still need a bit more tinkering to get my stainless drop bracket to fit the MPI column surround mounting points.

Well haven't been able to do much as i haven't had all my tools with me (borrowed by mein bruder!) What i have done is manage to bolt and tighten the master brake and clutch cylinders with stainless nuts and tried the pedals in place. Everything is all singing and dancing with no clearance issues from the pedals. However i still need to figure out how to connect my brake pedal to the cylinder. Also checked the fit of my stainless steel spreader plates and it was all good :)

Blue I fitted my metro brake master cylinder today but it is fouling my clutch m/c reservoir. What is your clutch master cylinder please? and Where did you get you get it from?
Regards Ali

PS - I got my brake cylinder working with the standard mini pushrod and a 10mm spacer inside the tube. Check out my thread.

This is the one I have from minispares : http://www.minispare...id=35994&title=

I've bought a universal pushrod which I will be cutting down and a pin I got but it all needs a bit of work!

I know Spiyda. I brought a set of his LED lights.

Those bearings are a really smart idea, may have to contact him about them!.

I know so many people with Minis in Stourbridge! My girlfriend was one of them.. now she lives down south with me :)

I'm not to keen on the way you've cut the cage. Surely it would have been better to cut the feet off and weld them back on higher up.

The way I have cut the cage? I'm having the rear arms go through to the suspension turrets so would need to be longer metal. This means I can tie in my rear suspensions rigidity with my cage. I have a proper tube notcher for the right cut on my new CDS and a very competent welder so i'll be alright ;)

There are a damn lot of mini owners in Stourbridge actually one day once mine is finished i'll go for a meet up :)

I mean how you've cut the cage at the top before the bends end and then shortened the legs and welded them back one. The main hoop is the most important part of the cages structure and by cutting and welding it where you have you've introduced an immediate weak point.

I'll have to check our blue book at work but I'm fairly sure you wouldn't pass scrutineering at any MSA event if they knew there was a joint there.
