My dad has uneartherd a MOWOG AEG head that he had on an Austin 1300 many years ago.

He put it on his car then as an upgrade as he bought it off a guy who was splitting his rally car at the time.

Was wondering if anybody had any information on this type of head and what type of engine it may have originated from? And what it is going to fit onto?

Would it fit my 998 or will I need to get a 1275 to build it on to :))

AEG WHAT ??? We need to know the part number!!
If it's an AEG 163 - then that's the original Cooper S head - and if not cracked sells for ~ £200. I used one on my 'racing' 998 engine about 40 years ago. It needs LARGE pockets cut in the block........

It is an AEG 163 yeah no cracks either. Any idea of what power it would give on a 998 or 1275 ? What sort of cam and flywheel would I be looking at to compliment it? Would I be best changing my rocker levers aswell?

AEG163 early S head , not many around due to cracking , think it should have very large valves and poss double springs , should be worth a few £s

The AEG163 head had 35.6 mm inlet valves as standard. The early ones did suffer from cracking which became more likely if even bigger valves were fitted. Any surviving now in un-cracked state will probably not crack in use. They didn't all crack, just that some did and it became a well-known problem.
It will fit well on a 1275 block, but do make sure you do a compression ratio measurement and calculation. The 163 is an 11-stud head, so the additional 2 holes can be drilled and tapped in the block. If possible, get the head casting non-destructive tested for cracking between inlet & exhaust valves.
