Hey Hugh, just be carefull if you use fairy liquid to make your soapy water, the stuff is full of salts and will rot your window frame

Looking good though buddy, keep it going

Thanks Neil that is so kind. And Trac - you've got me worried now! Have I done another goof up? I used squeezy. Could I flush the worst out by easing the seal back. The thought of taking that windscreen out!! I have done so many bits more than once. What should I use?

Hugh

Hugh don't take the windscreen out based on what I say, wait and see what others with more experience say

I'm sure it'll be fine because you used it in diluted form

Just done a little google and when fitting the front windscreen try and use talcum powder as a lubricant

Thanks again gents. Way down on page 7 means laziness.

Not much to show. Got one side window in. I started with car shampoo this time and a screwdriver. No chance. Actually damaged the seal. So I moved onto the string method and got the driver side in easy.

Do notice the gouges from the screwdriver failed method. Then with a touch of arrogance tried the other side 4 times and its still not in. But I've successfully damaged the headlining glue.

So I've given up at present. When my son comes home on holiday I'll get him to put pressure from the outside. He's a big strong fellow!

Made a rubber gasket from old inner tube for hand brake seal.

So it works. That's all I'm afraid.

Inching along, Hugh

Haven't commented on your thread for a while hug but I'm always reading when I see a new update! Some of your "trashy" repairs are actually the kind of thing that gets overlooked, IMO the things you have done only replicate the original but using the materials you have to hand. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest! Hats off to you for being able to think your way round a situation and not just go spend more money on a new item!

Glad to see your still progressing through this, would love to come and see it when both our cars are done!

Regards
Ben
