Once more I have to thank you for your interest and help - Graham, minimuk, filler luvin breathin Shifty and JonnyBMX.

I have a green bonnet

Posted Image

Posted Image

Not perfect but good enough for me.

And working on the bootlid

This one is dedicated to minimuk

Posted Image

Hope you like my nice wee fibreglass patches!

A bit of filler

Posted Image

Posted Image

Hopefully have it green and fitted next week!!!! But I'm going to be out a bit.

And I've been looking at the wiper motor. Got it cleaned up - what a mess a couple of years in a garage covered in grindings makes.

Six years ago I made a tentative (read pathetic) start to bits of the Mini. Like painting the coil and fitting a stainless bracket; fitting a braided hose to the clutch; painting little bits! I had fitted a new parking switch to the wiper motor.
I had also bought these from minispares.com.

So maybe get the wiper motor fitted soon.

I believe it fits to two square plastic inserts with self tappers - can anyone verify. I do wish I had taken more photos as each bit came out instead of ripping bits out and filling up boxes! That's me. So still keeping my hand in.

More greening along

Hugh

yep square ones and rathe thick self tappers, bracket obviously on an angle... Bonnet looks ace and rear panel....good job

Just read start to finish, you've came a long way! A 'well done' seem to be enough, but well done.

Thanks minimuk, Minidarren83 and evansisgreat for your interest and comments. Minidarren83 it is rattlecans and the finish is not quite so good in the flesh. The boot lid that I've finished has a run in it. It's my first run. I am getting too impatient or I'll put it down to the dark nights and me not seeing so well.

Still pottering along

Bootlid is now green

Posted Image

Posted Image

And a couple of other bits

Posted Image

And getting ready to paint the shocks and get them fitted

Posted Image

Not exciting but a little bit more along the way.

dawdling along

Hugh

I don't get much time to catch up with project logs of late but I'm glad I popped my head in here.

Looking great Hugh! Are you spraying through a gun or are you just using Rustoleum rattle cans?

Are you planning a flat and polish once it's had plenty of time to cure?

Keep it up!

Looking good Hugh, greener every day..! You know you want to do the headlining now to match the rest of the tidy interior.

Hello, did another wee bit till driven in by the midgies! That's one hazard most of you don't have to contend with. I'm still itching as I write this. Its been a kind of grey damp summer up here and the midgies seem to have thrived.

Thanks Andrew. Shifty that's flattery, or sarcasm?! I see your helper is on your avatar - your a proud daddy and rightly so. I always appreciate hearing from you Deathrow. I know you are busy but I'd love to see your car move on. You were so inspirational to me. I'd say it was your post that really made me think I could give it a go. Its a fantastic read. Thanks for it. Its just straight out the Rustoleum rattle can. I'm probably too scared to flat and polish. Might just wax over it! jagman.2003 I am dreading the headlining. If someone of your skills put it off what does someone like me feel. I have the headlining. I won it on Ebay - an unused Newton Commercial one for £20. It is not the colour or the texture I wanted but at that saving who's going to fuss. The cream will go with the green I think. So one of these days I'll have to grit my teeth.

I have been working at the headlamps but need new inner rims and am waiting for stainless self tappers to arrive. I've also given the badge base a wee lick of paint and put the insert back in - I used double side foam - don't know is that the correct method.

Posted Image

I've wire brushed, kurusted, etched and slapped on a bit of chassis black to the shocks

So that's it.

Itching along, Hugh

Nice trick with the ladder Hugh & those shocks look nice & shiney now too! I definitely think the cream & green go together so don't worry about it. Keep on keeping on ;-)

Looking good Hugh, shocks have a great shine. Good to see I'm not the only one with painted mini parts dangling all round the garage.

Brams96 thanks for the green/cream encouragement. I thought that's what a ladder was meant for! mackeellan, jagman.2003, Graham and Lewis-142 a big thanks for your comments. There is a danger having Mini bits dangling around the garage. I removed the bonnet from its aperture and when getting up after fitting a front shock I pulled it down and its got scrapes on it!! I could scream. I'm such a clumsy numpty!!!

I fitted the old exhaust in place. Fitted the two rear shock absorbers - had to remove the petrol tank and add a few more scrapes! I bet you guys get sick of hearing how careless and unthinking I am! I also fitted one of the front shocks. But after a days teaching, cycling to and from school, cutting 1/4 acre of grass I think that's enough.

Posted Image

Posted Image

I had repaired this shock mount earlier as can be seen - you can't get a grinder in there!

Posted Image

Posted Image

So there is gradually more space in the garage!!

Damaging along

Hugh
