Shifty, Scott, Graham and Adam a big thanks.

I managed to get my right wing 'adjusted'.

So trimmed back the wee panel I made up last night - you can see I work to quite a bit of wastage!!

Posted Image

Cleaned up and some weld through primer

Posted Image

Clamped

Posted Image

Posted Image

And tacked

Posted Image

And butt welded

Posted Image

Now here's where I had to put in a bit of tension. I managed to get a hacksaw blade into the scuttle gap and between my fingers sawed a relief cut to the flange. I got Anne to help and jacked up the wing a bit and forced it in position. Then got my line of plug welds in.

Posted Image

You can see it is lying a bit better - here are two other pictures

A bit of a gap - but better than it was. You can just see the relief cut - me being me I went just that wee bit too far.

Posted Image

But its still a bit lower than I'd like - I can't do any better other than start again from scratch - I'm not doing that!

Posted Image

I'm much happier with the look of the two wings now.

I've a bit of plug welding to finish at the front and on the inner wings.

Then its trying the bonnet again. I think I will have to weld a wee strip all the way down it as Neil has shown on project Erm.

Good job on those wings Hugh! You are going to need to come build mine for me when you are done! :D

A bit of sealer and those wing/scuttle joints will look mint.

Very nice job Hugh. Hats off to you. The fenders are just about where they should be despite some earlier (rather small) misplacement of welds. It's really looking quite good.

This is what it means to be a hand-built car. I've done work on various older Park Ward, Williams & Pritchard and the like, and seen about the same or more deviation between the two sides of their products, than between your Sky and any other Mini.

I have to thank you Scott, Shifty, minimuk, Chris, Adam, Graham, Tom, Danny, vaughn1 and racingenglishcars. My e-friends!

I finished the plugwelds at the front of the left wing. Then refitted the bonnet. and adjusted the catch so it latches just right.

Here's what needs sorted now

Left wing

Posted Image

And right wing

Posted Image

So I'm going to cut the bonnet like Neil did and put filler pieces in.

The front looked like this - a lot better than the trial fit. This is the right side.

Posted Image

Adjusted to this

Posted Image

And at the left front

Posted Image

To this - not that great a profile

From a bit back

Posted Image

A bit dark I know - the bright nights are coming though.

I hit 57 yesterday. Getting awful near 60!! This was from Anne (chosen by me). A little brightness and bling for my wee Mini.

I'm most impressed by the quality of these stainless parts from Smiffys Bits. Smiffy himself (Mark) is a really helpful guy.

I used his Ebay shop.

So not an exciting night but every little helps

Well done for persevering Hugh, its looks a lot better than it did. Good luck with adding the filler strips. Do take your time with it.
