Wow, your floor looks a lot better under the bitumen sound deadening than mine ever did. I had the rust set in at the bottom of the grooves. All that sound deadening was introduced to the mini in 1980 to produce the "Quiet Mini". Don't know if it made it much quieter but its certainly a lot lighter now! That stuff is surprisingly heavy!!

Hugh that wing to front panel looks alright, especially for a non gen front panel. i used genuine everything and the left wing to front panel was shocking, curve of the panels didnt match at all, grinder and welder sorted that though :D

Carlos, Tom minimuk, and Graham as always my thanks. Adam thank you for your help. I think I did that picture myself! I hope others aren't using it for reference!

HaHa. I drew a straight line across where the top lip of the bulkhead is / should be and your drawing's within a milimetre or two. The more I work on my Mini bodywork, the more I realise it's just lots of panels overlapping each other which were spot welded depending where they fell on the jig. As long as the overall dimensions work then that was it. Spike may have been falling apart but all the welds on him are factory fresh with no accident damage. Comparing Spike's driver's side to passenger side, one bloke must have weld happy and the other wanting to go home. The number of spot welds and where they were put differs markedly.

A Mini isn't one project it's just hundreds of little ones and your Mini's looking good.. At least the garage isn't below zero this weekend......

Shifty - forgive me on this one. I have welded the wings to the front panel off the car! Its the only way I can get the welds in. I'd never manage it under the wings with my limited skills. I've checked the welded bit back in and I should be able to persuade it to go in. Sorry, and after all your advice!
Scott the floors aren't bad at all. That bitumen is a pain though!
pinhead, Adam and mini_in_progress thanks for the kind words and help.

It's moving along slowly!

As I've pointed out to Shifty I've welded the wings to the front panel.

A bit of persuasion and it will do

The perspective of this looks strange but you are looking at the inside stoneshipped

Maybe get it all on next week. But I'm not promising! I have set targets before and they have slipped.

Great work with the wings Hugh. Thats how I did mine too. I clamped my wings to the front panel whilst in place on the mini and then lifted the wings and front panel off in one piece and welded whilst on the floor. They still fitted perfectly when put back on.

Hugh,

looks fine to me, there are many on here who have done the same pal. As long as you can get it all lined up and sorted then why not. Keep it going, unlike me who is shying away from bodywork at the mo in favour of a little engine work !!

Praise from me as always pal,

Graham

might get an update up soon !!
