If you put a lamp or some kind of light in the boot, it will worm the sheet metal and the paint will harden.
Don't get it too hot, or you'll bubble the paint. Just put a small light in the boot and close it up as much as you can.
This will make a worm box that you can paint the outside and the inside. In fact you can pre worm the boot to check it's not too hot.
You can do this to the whole car. It just takes more lights.
Try it, you'll like it.

That sounds like a great idea, John. Thanks.
At present the weather is still mildish, just a couple of nights of frost so I am trying to get paint on and protect. I moved to the front - wire brushed with the grinder, Kurust on and cleaned, Etch primer on, Seam sealant along seams and welds, five coats of Hammerite Stonechip Shield, and today a coat of green Rustoleum. I haven't taken photos of the process - its extremely dull.
Here is how it looks now. I'll let the paint have a bit of time to harden and put on another coat. Its all brushed on as nobody will really see these areas. Well I brush painted a whole Astra once so I'm mot the fussy sort!
So still moving on a wee bit. It's getting the areas where the subframes are going done.
I've also been wire brushing bits and pieces from the radius arms.
What a difference from the weather this time last year. It was Baltic in the garage. Its not too bad just now.

This is what panelbeaterpeter said - "Regarding the stonechip, DON'T apply it over paint. Etch prime very lightly, then stonechip, then paint. You can prime before paint if you wish."
Thanks Carlos

You're welcome.
My garage got so cold paint stripper wouldn't work. I had to put two of those quarts halogen lamps under the panel to warm it up. Then it worked just fine.
See the attachments.

Thanks Graham, Carlos and Dave.
Just cleaning and painting. Preferring it to welding. Ignore the runs, etc. Its me! I feel I'm rounding a corner now.
I took my radius arms inside for a few days after Kurusting and running out of etch primer
But have now dealt with them
And bits and pieces
I'm not renewing everything just servicing and tidying up. If it works keep it! This is going to be my transport and not a hobby for driving on sunny days and showing.
Every little helps
Painting along

I did the same, took a break from the welding and did some scrubbing, cleaning and painting. It's a nice change for a while.
