I had the Head off to some decokeing over the last weekend. Im now busy reassembling the Engine.
I wanted to ask, Should I fit on the carb(SU HF4) gaskets dry? or quote them with some gasket maker or some firegum?
Correct me if im wrong but there are 2 gaskets, one between manifold and spacer disk, one between spacer disk and carb?
Thanks.

Yes there are 2 gaskets and it is a good practice to use gasket sealer to ensure no air or water leakage in the assambly.

Not required, and not really good practice in this instance. This joint doesnt contain any oil or water, just the charge. The gaskets stick more than well enough dry. Getting the carb off when one of these has been stuck on with gop can be a nightmare.
There should be one gasket between at joint, that means 3 usually. One gasket, then the spacer, 2nd gasket, then the abutment plate/heat shield, 3rd gasket and then the carb.

No gasket required, however if you really want to use some sealer....... make sure it is petrol resistant, silicon sealer is not petrol resistant.

I just make new gaskets from cereal packets and fit them. No sealant or anything, just makes it a pain to clean off in future.
