Right I thought I would top up my thread as I haven't replied for a few years.
Well during this time my mini has been through a few track days included Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch and Snetterton,
It was fairly reliable, having a high maintenance girlfriend is the best way to describe it haha.
Anyway, Cadwell Park
Few from Brands Hatch
Then the power and slight overheating issues and a rebuild inevitable at some point I decided on the Micra conversion instead
First made the frame...
Then got a steal on these carbs which are 36mm which seems to be ideal...
Then stripped and put them through the blaster...
All in...
I was actually trying to fit the moustache at this point still not convinced on the idea of these though
Then I purchased these one for looks and two to hopefully stop the tyre flexing over so much...
Still so much to do I will be updating as I go along...

Small update with a few pictures:
I am not convinced by this whole home made frame as well as losing my house, workshop and the distribution of all my tools.
So I have more or less been left with the basics so therefore after Christmas I will be purchasing an Allspeed Frame to just get it done.
In the mean time I could sort issues such as mounting the Chrome mirrors, fitting the fuel pump and other small stuff:
Few Pic before it gets torn down again.
Enjoy!

JonesNice to see another Micra build, I used the same carbs and they worked fine. Good luck with the rest of the build!
I am looking to do the manifold the same as you, do you know what grade aluminium rod was used by you and the engineering company.
Also what modifications did you do as in jets etc to begin?
Thanks

The standard jets should be 135 which should be a good starting point I went up to a 155 but I have some extra cc's

Rod grade I'm not sure the first one I did was brazed together which worked but was a pain in the rear.

Excellent Thank you
Did you buy separate jets or just drill them out?
Does 135 mean 1.35mm and 155 mean 1.55 mm

Can you document how you are using the bike carbs at all? (Ive also got the same setup but not installed yet as im a bit clueless) - What parts of the loom will you need to run it just on carbs and dizzy?
Also the alternator - im still finding it difficult to see where its going to fit / how to use the mounting kit supplied by allspeed
Should be done around the same time as im at the same stage as you :) - Will have to compare cars as im only a few miles away near southend :)
Make sure you keep the frame at room temp when painting, mine has some real crazy paving effect due to the shed being cold when i painted it.. also degrease it extremely well!! got some paint peel in places where the primer cant stick that well.

Hello Chap.
I am planning on using a dizzy in the same way as the mini does in this case a micra K10 dizzy. Then using the drive gear from the k11 to build a hybrid as such. This will allow me to keep the loom I have going to the original coil. i am then going to use original oil and water gauges (smiths) by making them fit to the micras original unions.
I have a four core rad aswell and looking to use it in the original place by adding metal to the original frame to mount it.
As for the alternator I am having to get back to you. Aswell as the manifold for the carbs im unsure of to.
I am by no means suggesting that the ways I am thinking of doing things is the best but its what I can afford and potentially do with what I have and without cutting the shell.
Excellent chap thank you. We certainly will have to. I was going to build it all up then get it powder coated.
Hope this helps

You'll have a fright when you meet me, im a lady
Good idea with the powdercoating, i would have sent mine off for coating but time is a strict restraint for me
I'm really trying not to cut the shell too - the bulkhead must stay the same and im trying to keep as much of the inner wings as possible.
Using the original rad seems to be the way forward as ive heard the piping just falls into place. In terms of temp sensor ive got a very early thermostat housing that i can fit a mini sensor into and utilise the original mini loom for this part - maybe something to think about? Will be interesting to see how eachothers projects move on etc :)
