This month I think I can get the van to pass our MOT so I can finally see how the coilovers handle. I miss driving the van around!

Almost done.

Just found your build thread. Lovely Panel van and great job on the rebuild.

Quick question, does that engine have an engine number that starts with 12H-GTS? If so, it might be that when your Dad did the engine swap, he fitted the engine from a Leyland GTS. Which was the fastest Mini produced in the 70s in SA. I ask because it looks like an SA block motor with the oil filter sitting up like that and it has the 11 stud head.

I will confirm that! I remember that with the 998 gearbox it reached 180 km/h and it got there pretty fast!

I think that might be an Austin Apache engine number. The Austin Apache was an SA only model that shared the SA block A-series motor, gearbox, suspension and other bits with the Mini.

Some more updates!

I went to Portuguese MOT and it passed!

So I went for a test ride and it's very good. The coilovers are so much more comfortable then the original suspension.

Just need the wheel arches.

I have one question. I mounted a hif44 with a bdl needle and I have a 3-2-1 exhaust and pancake air filter and the engine is a 1275. Currently I have a 25D distributor. Would it be better to buy a 65D electronic distributor?
