After a long time, the Mini restoration got back on a good rythm!
Very nice! The engine looks interesting, I first thought that it was a Mpi version due to the screwed on oil filter, but still has an old ignition system, carb, but then again no mechanical fuel pump??
Well, I still don't know either if the oil filter position is a South African caractheristic, or if my dad used an engine block from other car (such as a Marina, for instance). I'll have to ask him!
Yes, it has an eletric fuel pump, but it was fitted by him, once again. I think so!
I saw the first picture and I immediately knew I recognized that mini, I did erasmus last year in Portugal and sat with you or your brother, can't really get it out of the story, in school xD
Nice to see the project here!
Will definitly follow this one!!

Eheh, my brother told me about a foreign student with a MIni!
So, the news:
And then she was taken to a new garage, where the engine came back to life:

Hello!
New good and bad updates!
So, i have built the piece which holds the seats:
Welded in place!
The rear sub-frame is ready to fit!
And this past week, some more welding was made:
The floor was painted with primer
And the grinder did take a bit of my hand.
Almost healed now! stitches are off..
And it's all for now!

So, updating the van:
I have welded a new A-Panel
I was taking off the one on the other side and there was more rust under it, so I took them out, as well as the front wing
Welded everything in place again
Had to turn the van sideways to clean up the floor
Primer on the floor
Another new panel
New undercoat
New corner
New panel welded on and undercoated
Looking good
Engine bay painted
Front and rear sub-frame mounted and the engine, brakes, transmissions and suspensions as well
I have upgraded the brake system, reconditioned a set of 7.5 cooper s discs brakes
Started on the roof
A small video of the 1275 engine working
And pulling the van in
And for now that's it!

And a time lapse of some striping work and the interior painting!
I have to decide what to do with the suspension and i need some advice!
Spax coilovers or rubber cones with gaz or similar shock absorbers?
Mostly road use with some track days!
Many thanks
