Never. They should go on a BMW forum or a medium sized car forum :errr:

Whilst I do share your sentiment to some extent, the fact is that more and more BINI owners are going to use this forum and they are going to ask questions about their BINI's because they do not realise that this is primarily a classic mini forum. At least if there were a BINI sub section on this forum, their posts would be kept out of the main forum to some extent.

all the more reason for a link on the front page to MINI2, im sure some sort of deal could be done to redirect traffic to the correct sites!

The MINI is different and should have its own section, like the Z-cars and others.

The MINI mostly attracts a different kind of driver altogether, with that in mind i think itd be a good idea to introduce a sub section for it. I dont consider them to be a 'real' mini, but they are part of the scene whether we like it or not. And for some reason i do want a cooper S for a winter run about

i think things are being made worse by the fact the mods keep stepping in and making the site feel less welcoming sometimes! one thread recently where a mod stepped in very early on in the thread after two valid, but different pieces of advice were given by two different members and the mods post was more aggressive and seemingly unwelcoming than the two other posters!

to people not interested in minis, i know i thought it before I got into them, know them as slow, unreliable rust buckets that do nothing than eat money, but is somehow iconic for no apparant reason! the more people say things like this, as a lot, not all but a lot of Bini owners do (thats another thing, whats wrong with BINI, its BMW MINI shortened, and in no way insulting!?) the more we want to say wo hold on, yeah they may rust, may be a bit unreliable but there so much more fun than any eurobox! and whats wrong with that?

Yes above but nearly all cars rotted in the old days. With a Classic Mini you can work on them yourself saving a fortune. Most modern cars have to go to the dealers and the labour bills.

I think it's a good idea, although I also think it should be a smaller section within the predominantly classic mini site [Disclaimer: this doesn't mean I hate Bini (=BMW Mini) owners] to give all advice on the Bini (=BMW Mini) and also have a section of writing with link to a Bini (=BMW Mini) site, to explain that they might be able to find better/quicker answers on there. In return maybe this Bini (=BMW Mini) site could have a similar thing linking classic owners to this site, in a 'work together' kind of way, so one stays mainly Bini (=BMW Mini) and the other stays classic. I don't see any point in turning TMF into a fully mixed technical forum as there is simply no crossover between the two models and there are already superb, established forums for both. Plus the mods and admin already have their work cut out keeping it going with it being just classic.

Athough, most people who sign up to ask a quick question on the Bini (=BMW Mini) don't read the stickies or even go to the relevant technical forum anyway, so I don't see that having a Bini (=BMW Mini) section will actually help these cases much at all. But of course we couldn't redirect them or advise them next time to post in the Bini (=BMW Mini) section as this would be unwelcoming and very mean of us

Nevertheless, I still think having a small Bini (=BMW Mini) section would be a good idea for the forum.

My 2 pence. That's 4 I've put in so far, hope I get some return on it...

[Disclaimer: I still have nothing against the Bini (=BMW Mini) or their owners]

why dont you put a link to MINI2 forum and get them to return the favour.

most MINI owners stumble on here by accident thinking thet we are polite and helpfull. But the bini haters soon dispell that myth

I've mentioned this on another thread, but TMF is the first hit on a Google search of Mini Forum, so we're bound to get some Bini folk round these parts! The problem with having a Bini section is that it won't be used. A lot of the Bini posters are starting ne threads in the wrong section (eg technical problems in Mini Chat) so whose to say having a Bini section will help.

When you register, can't it be required that you have to put in what car you have (even if it's not a Mini, Bini or you have no car), that way, if you put it 58 plate Cooper S Clubman Estate Diesel ( ) a wee pop-up thing (like when you vote in a poll it has a message about squirrels counting nuts) can say "Whilst you are welcome here, did you know there is a New Mini Specific forum at URL" and then the new user can judge the situation for themselves?
