Apologies for posting in the wrong place. Thank you for the kind offer. Will try to get the info from th dealer, wouldn't like to risk your brochures to the tender care of the Post Office if I can do it any other way. thank you again :D

The way I see it is, wolfie and craig gave polite and reasonable responces with which the op was more than happy with, going off her reply.

Dan's come in with his size 13s and it's all kicked off, (again). God only knows what minicat thinks of us after this outburst. The op asked a straight forward question and got two straight forward answers. No need for any other 'comments'.

of course we should be welcoming, but we are a mini forum, we dont know how to fix the BMWs, or anything about them. im not aware of any members on here who have just binis, there are a few who have a mini and a bini, but then there are a few who have a mini and vw, or a mini and a ford. and theyre not trying to get a seperate area, at most there is the 'other projects' section which is for any old car. i dont think there would be a benifit to anyone by having a bini section, if people have binis they go to a bini forum, if people have both they stay here or go to a bini forum as well, this is a predominantly classic one and is all the better for it.

Maybe a mod/admin can clean up this thread so if the OP does actually come back (pretty unlikely now I would have thought) they actually get an answer rather than 3 pages of arguments.

People keep on saying we don't know anything about MINI'S (I will not use the B word as I find it offensive ( njust for the record I own 2 classics) maybe if they didn't try and send people to other forums and let members who may be able to help answer questions they may learn something who knows one day they may be able to use that info to help someone surely then they would feel good about themselves. I would put money on the fact that if Rover made it poeple on here would gladly asker questions dispite it still being the same car after all Rover worked on the design of the First Gen MINI (well apart form reliability :errr: )

Why not just make a new Mini area?

I agree, i think it would be a really good idea and might just stop these repetitive arguments

Thing is TMF is Google's first hit with a 'Mini Forum' search, so we will get some New MINI owners on here. However, a few minutes browsing the forum (and using the search function!) makes it quite obvious what the majority of us are here for. It's difficult-as weird as it sounds, there is nothing unwelcoming about saying "Try this place, you might get a better answer, but this thread will remain here for people to view, so make sure you check back as there are some on this forum with MINI knowledge and you might get to know what you're looking for."

Occasionally in General Chat they'll be threads from long standing forum users that have nothing to do with cars, random made up example: 'my guitar is broken HELP!' , there are plenty of guitarists on here, but there's nothing wrong with saying try on this or that forum. It's just because it's to do with MINIs that people think it's a touchy subject.

There's my 2 pence, don't spend it all at once!

I also agree it would be a good idea now the MINI is 10 years old and a lot of owners are searching for technical help. Maybe just a single 'general' area on TMF for all New MINI topics, news and technical questions, etc, would solve the problem and confusion, in the same way that some New MINI forums have a general area for all Classic Mini questions and topics to be posted or moved to?
Then any TMF members not interested in anything MINI need ever go in there and the increasing number of MINI posts would no longer confuse or clutter up the main classic forum, but those interested or looking for help could easily find any useful MINI topics posted on TMF.

This is a classic mini forum that is MINI tolerant. That does NOT make it a MINI forum. It is perfectly correct and helpful to any MINI poster to steer them to where they can get the information they require.
