Stone-chipped the entire underside last night, so it can dry for the weekend when I will put it back on my trolley to paint the shell, then it's on with bolting stuff on!!!

After using about 1/2 litre of waxoyl in each sill, I put the shell back on my trolley and fired the space heater up to heat it up so the spare would drip out- a bit messy! quite happy with it though, I think it will have gone in all the small gaps etc as I also persuaded it with a heat gun once upright.

Have been doing bodywork lately, flatting back and filling etc, getting close to paint now!

Sweet.

Over sills? You're forgiven for drilling holes in them though

Yes... I was sold them by a "mini expert" who "never uses anything else"... However as my sills were not rotten I cut the overlap right off so they are only about an inch wider than standard sills, and I drilled them so IMO they are pretty similar to standard, but a bit stronger due to being welded the whole way along and more enclosed. I don't know why more people don't use stone chip- the finish is great and just as easy as underseal!

looks awsome, certainly coming along!

i do love the jacking points! was trying to come up with a way of quick jacking a mini he other day. i came up with pretty much the same solution, apart from just one on the front subframe and one on the rear, so its quicker to lift two wheels off the ground. this is for a track mini though :)

and stonechip is great, you can get a very nice finish with it if you use it well!

Hi all,

I have not been on the forum for AGES- work as been busy and am now engaged, a home owner (in need of full renovation) so time is not on my side at the moment!

However this week I managed to get over to the workshop and finally painted the shell! The other bits are mainly in primer, and will paint them separately, but still, now I am able to build up the subframes and bolt them to the shell, get wiring in, fuel lines etc so hopefully the fun can start now :-)

I would love to know how much the shell weighs right now. Probably pointless information unless someone knows the weight of a standard body at this stage...

Anyway - cant wait to see how this develops alongside all your other life responsibilities!
