Im getting the cam bearings inserted on thursday so I can finish the rebuild, also got the gearbox off my current engine to go on my rebuilt block
ALSO more interstingly - one of my mini friends was selling his megajolt system so I will now run it with Megajolt aswell. Hopefully it will release a few more horse power and torque through the rev range as well as be a smoother drive and reliable in the wet

A brand new megajolt ecu is £100 and the Edis equipment I know I can source for £20 from the local scrappy, £25 for a trigger wheel and prob another £25 for connections and compression fittings for the vac pipe and I reckon thats it, megajolt for £170

115bhp out of a normally aspirated 998. If you go onto their website and look on downloads at the modification rules this seems like serious rubbish to me :/
0-60 in 6.6 secs from that spec? I dont think so :/
Head is A: Inlet 27.66mm. Exhaust 27.93mm. B: 34.35mm.
Camshaft is metro turbo standard, nowhere near what we are planning on running :/
Thoughts?

I would add though that as the cars are probably stripped of all weight prob just the steering wheel gearstick and driver in the cockpit so the 0-60 is achieveable
110bhp will be flywheel HP, its doable in a 998, the cylinder heads are probably ported out to a ridiculous spec, mix this with a decent cam and a weber and somekind of engine management system ten the bhp is realistic
I was reading through an old mini world yesterday and the rolling road shootout article of the Turbo Minis club, some 998s were kicking out near 200bhp!!!

I hadnt paid much attention to it either but had a look tonight :/
Yeah i suppose they are seriously stripped out and dont carry the amount of tools that i do :/
Head spec is above. Not too sure. and they only use an MG metro cam :/
They still use the dizzy though :/
Haha yeah i know thats turbo though

haha, this is so true, i have so many tools in my boot!!
for some reason my laptop wont open the spec download off the mini7 page
The MG metro cam is a very decent camshaft and earns much praise with a 998 application, hmm, maybe HP does seem a little optimistic, would be interested to see the ports and the valve throats of the head, I bet they are well poted out to the max
do they use weber?
I wonder what CR they use aswell, prob very high!

10:75:1 i think
Mg metro aint bad yeah its the same as an SW5 ish at the end of the day cause thats what Swifty based it on.
Yeah they use weber on one side only. Single choke only.
I just think looking at Ben Pophams Build, Your build, Liirges and Mine we are all going fairly similar within reason and the most we expect is about 90
I suppose if they fully ligtened EVERYTHING they might get that increase through sheer stress and friction reduction.

the most we expect is about 90
bloomin heck, i'd be fairly happy with 70-75
my stage 1 bog standard engine is 53 at the flywheel at the mo
