Yes the ITG ones are about 80. My one was 98 and IMHO well worth the extra

Where did you get yours from?

Liirge, hows your engine coming along?

Just read through this thread, good work! Looks sweet.

I'm still undecided whether to rebuild the 998 i've got or source a 1275... A hot 998 may be a plan :D

well not that well if im honest! seems to have stalled again, the engine is in 3 or 4 main bits, needed to be bolted together! but i wont do that till I've got the car all prepd and ready! and im not at home at the moment, and its cold outside (as you can tell its just excuses!!)

I might sell the lot if im honest!

but just to add again, its a good project you have going here

Hey man i was thinking about upgrading my engine from a 998 to a 1275, but the thing is thats all i know, just literally the CC's lol. But then i heard that the 998s are much revvier than the 1275s or something so i think i want to make a 998 that does 0-60 at a 'normal' rate really, thats all i want! what would you recommend to me? Thanks alot :)

well, if ya dont want to go to the bother of swapping engines but want a bit more poke, I would say put a stage 1 kit on with an ultralight flywheel and backplate. These parts can be installed without taking the engine out/rebuilding it.

Those pockets look pretty shallow, mine are much deeper. Unless its just camera trickery :thumbsup:/

with the cam Im putting in (kent 276) I should have at least 50 thou clearance at full lift, measured each pocket with vervier calipers so it accurate
people often make the pockets far to deep, Ive heard people say they never bothered pocketing the block and just used 2 headgaskets and it worked a treat. Even when the recess the valve trick is used they only recess it 40 thou and it gives ample clearence to the block

Yay to me!
Im going for the MG head as well, more than enough flow of air for a one litre! Pockets look fine for me with that cam etc.
The inlets on the MG head are 35.7 and exhaust is 29.5 (although exhaust maybe different)

What did you use to do the pockets?

used a die grinder to pocket it

Correct again, measured them before and your right. Plenty of flow with tose size valves and the porting ive done
