luckily at work we have a very hefty compressor and a very good selection of die grinding burrs so the pocketing shouldnt be a problem
I may try and source a metro cam, will save me £60 compared to getting new, I have heard off other people that they are a great cam for use in a pocketed 998
As the chap above pointed out, you can get good second hand cams, for a bargain price. I picked my 266 up from the MITP autojumble for £20. As well as a big valve, ported 12g940 for £40, but now i'm just bragging
Na I can top that one, spotted an engine/gearbox on e-bay with hardly any description or picture/s.
Spotted it was local though, so thought it was worth a punt at asking for a look, turned out the bloke lived down the end of the road. Lol
Popped round and deal was done for £30, ended up with a decent enough recently skimmed block to use and all the other 998 bits to build up a full working engine, a spare gearbox, gear rod mechanism (already had 2 spare) a box full of bits, a brand new pancake k&n filter and a weather shield, both of which went straight onto the 25.
If I work it out, I paid £30 to start off with, sold the head and cam £35, the spare gear rod for another £20 and the gearbox for £30. So I’m £55 up and still have a few more unwanted bits left over.
