Been to the RR tuning garage today and shes all running sweet and had a needle profiled for it and the fuelling is now spot on. She is a healthy 45BHP at the wheels at 5000rpm, with the 276 rev band going to 7,000rpm I would uess the peak BHP to be somewhere in the 50s atw, didnt want to rev the nuts off it. my mate Paul took his mini aswell and funilly enough his was 45bhp @5000rpm aswell, his is a stg1 1275

Infact you should have revved up to 6k rpm to get the pub talk figure.
More important, is that you have it set up on the rollers :)

yeah, I know, maybe lost a few of the bragging rights only revving to 5k, Im happy at that though, I know there are a few more ponies in there if I want, just not willing to bugger it to get it there. really pleased

Conservative estimate there. So you have say 55ATW at 5000rpm 6000rpm is 66. mini`s loose between 11-18hp through the transmission. Meaning more like 77-84. Keen for a 998 put possible.

So would you say the 998 eats the 1275 as per your thread title? Considering the similar dyno results.

Its dificult to say, although they produced the same bhp figure mine produced less torque, also noting though that Paul's 1275 had pretty much peaked at 45bhp and mine had much more potential to produce more bhp if I had given it a bit more stick.I would think its a match for a bog standard 1275, my mates mini is a stage 1 1275

Why fit a different camshaft to it if you're scared to utilize it?

Let it rev!

The old 998 I had in my red mini made 53 at the wheels. Spec was pocketed 998 with 1275 head. I think it was a 266 cam and a HIF 44 with KN and RC40. If I had put a hif38 on I think it would have ran better. Over fueled a bit with the 44 on. But as you have said with your post above. The 998's have no where near as much torque. My MG metro engine in the clubby pulls so well I ditched the 998 and went for a large bore to go back in my red mini. Well done with it though. I know and again pop on and read this thread. Glad to here you have got it running nicely.
