My mates A+ stage one (minispares) twin box system made 51bhp on the rollers 2 years ago at hi tech, same rollers my 1275 stage one made 64bhp on.
So judging by that it averagely increases it by 13bhp roughly. If my assumption of std 1275s being around the 50bhp region.

Flywheel figures these are obviously.

Its using a BDL needle, will give it a richen up, the CO was 2.5% at idle with this needle

Will be chuffed with 55bhp to be fair, it is only a 1 litre

the BDL is a standard MG metro needle so i'd imagine that it should richen up ok, if not then use a BBB, spending £10 on a new needle is a lot cheaper than replacing melted engine parts!!

Idle CO reading is not useful for judging what happens under power. The carb is adjustable at idle, but that changes only a little bit for medium and high speed operation.

By the way, the BBB needle is leaner than the BDL at top speed. I strongly recommend BBZ as a starter, which is richer than the BDL throughout the range. Only after determining if it is too rich should one go back to a leaner needle.

thats a fair point by racingenglishcars but i did recommend a BBB needle for the running in period, i dont think that philip is going to be running the engine at "top speed" while he is running it in, and i fear that running a rich needle such as a BBZ will over fuel the engine which can be just as bad (if not worse) as running a new engine with a weak mixture, an over rich needle can "bore wash" the engine and the new rings will never bed in properly.

Will have a go richening it up at the weekend first whilst i wait for a new needle to come. She needs a new rad cap aswell. will get it to 4% CO at idle for now and see how she feels, will keep an eye on spark plugs awell

Had a BDL fitted to my 1275 stage one, fitted the engine almost perfectly. All standard internals, hif44. Got valve float after 5600rpm, I reckon if i could have been arsed to change the valve springs for new non weak ones I may have seen a bit more.

Cheap oil is best to bed the rings in. change at 500 and 1000 miloes and then fit decent stuff.

At 22:1 afr you are going to generate a lot of heat , potentailly if you sort the mixtue out you will be able to give it more ign advance

Cheap and cheerful oil works well.
I'm not going to bother dragging out the running in process of my new engine, bed the cam in, get it roughly tuned, drive around as normal (sensible) for about 300 miles. Then get it on the rollers.
I'm in the belief that most wear occurs at start up, and after 300 miles its more than bedded in in my opinion. And this is going to be an extremely far from standard engine as you've probably guessed from my sig. But it's each to their own, what I feel happy with others might not!

its a good idea but a lot of money to spend really phil, once the car is set up on the rollers then you only have to get it checked once a year, i would rather have something more useful for that money, your spec of engine doesn't really warrant that kind of gadgetry to be fair, the engine is going to be a very similar spec to mine (apart from being a 1098) and i wouldn't bother with an AFR meter at £150+.

sorry, i read it as 199 dollers for the bluetooth enabled version to use with your phone as the gauge is just an expensive light without the controller... and in the video on that ebay link it says all for under $100 thats what made me look

edit.....sorry your right, its $149 for the wideband kit ontop
