just read the whole build and now i want a fast 998 i was just gonna buy a 1275 when i could afford one looks like ill make a hot 998 soon :D

good lad, thats what I like to hear, I've really enjoyed squeezing as much as possible out of a 998, much more satisfying, for out and out power and bhp/£ you cant beat a 1275 though, just thought I'd do something different rather than going to big bore.



ya i think ild rather a lilttle 998 with mad power gonna try buy my old 998 off a bloke i sold it to he just wanted the dizzy off it but decieded he wanted to but the whole thing

in 2012, I'm gonna revamp my original 998 as a spare, will dream up a spec for it soon, or see what I can scrounge off ebay/bingley autojumble :shifty:


haha its bingley for me to lol see what bargains i can get and my phones delted all my phone numbers :( looks like ill have to go to his house :shifty:

I may be in the mini for Bingley, if anyone wants to see the engine theyre more than welcome to come and see it

I took the mini out for a good spin tonight

Its lovely in gears 1,2 and 3 but in 4th it dies a bit and struggles to hold its revs, so tomorrow I will have a play with the MJ maps I have, also I suspect that the needle needs profiling (by someone more knowledgeable than me!) so a RR is still a priority really, suspect that its to lean top end?

I did have a good 15 minutes drive and its good fun, I looked like a nutter driving along with my head out the window listening to that sweet sweet noise! :D

well, been having some nice drives out in my mini getting it run in ready for a power test, I have had a bit of tinkering around with maps and wotnot, fixed a few bits and bobs that needed finishing. Also fitted a roofrack, take a look

today, I took it to the garage and had the tracking setup, its brilliant and drives in a straight line now!
fixed the exhaust which was blowing badly (still blowing a tiny bit though)

the MOT is due on 20th Jan so gona get it MOT'ed then take it the RR on 28th Jan, watch this space, roll on 65/70 BHP :gimme: (maybe)

Just to add aswell, its running very well in all gears now, no bogging down or dying, the 276 is more than capable in traffic aswell

On a daft note, I have had 2 spark plugs stop working since putting the engine in, not got to the bottom of it either

Glad its working well now!
What exactly the plugs are doing? I've found a defective batch from NGK (japan made) giving all sort of issues, so maybe its just the plugs playing up..

Megajolt needs resistive plugs or it will blow them.

Check they've got an 'R' at the end of their coding, if not, change them.

Minilandy, that probably answers it, I'm using NGK BP6E plugs, twice now its been working fine then a cylinder has gone down, spark plugs had just stopped working.

Had a tinker around with some maps off autolabs, also having a fiddle with the aldon 123 curves the Jaydee sent me, playing around with the advance in the MJ chart to suit what the 123 curves would be. I've got it set pretty well now and its pulling nicely in all 4 gears. Prob did about 25 miles in it today, well chuffed ;D

edit - not sure which ht's I'm using, they were on the coil pack, will check tommorow as I'm on nightshifts now :(
