Also fiddled with the timing aswell, I have it set at 8 degree BTDC at 1000 rpm (was running at 12 before)
I didnt grind out the water pump pulley yet so its still noisy!I ran the engine for about 20 mins and the noise was getting quieter and quieter so I may just leave it and let itslef bed in until its silent
gave it a good rev up and the throttle response is much better, no hesitation or flat spots/bogging
Next to do now is adjust my neg camber then I can give it a tinkle up the road
Again, I've been forced back inside the house because its started lashing down with hailstones!

got idle mixture sorted spot on 2.5% CO and had a fiddle with timing again its about 6* BTDC now and seems to run luverlee!
Another small gripe, either my thermostat is ferkin buggered or I have an airlock in my cooling system as after I'd run it up and down the road a few times it started heating up and when stopped there was some steam and gurgling from the rad cap, I'm sure its an airlock, will run it with the heater open and rad cap off to get any air out and see what it does from there
tommorow, take some neg camer off so it doesnt rub on full lock/cut arches, also ant to re-do the tappets again, I did them all to 12 thou but guna do them to 15/16 thou now (kent cams figures)
when this is done, shes getting a proper drive up the road

also, ran the engine with the rad cap off and heater open and got all the air out the system, not heating up anymore
gave it a good spin up the road and its a bit bloomin loud!!! I cannot believe the noise from it for a 998cc engine, my neighboughs hate me, you can see them looking out their windows at me
it runs well enough but will benefit from a RR session, its just a bit sluggish under 2000 revs but this could be attributed to the 276 cam, once over 1500/2000 revs its very nippy and very loud, induction roar is fabulous!
very happy with the weekends work
EDIT: just another small thing, it has sprung a leak from the timing cover oil seal, but its not too bad

Yeah, will have a go tonight or failing that, at the weekend when its light again, full throttle sounds amazing, such throaty aggressive purr!
Sounds good mate!

Will have to see what Santa says
Also want to get it RR when the megajolt is all set up, will get a mate to fit it but hes a busy lad himself at the moment putting a vauxhall engine in a clubby estate
EDIT:Also not re-done the tappets to 15/16 thou, it went dark, it will possibly run better when set to the Kent cam clearances ie; not be as sluggish below 1500/2000 revs
