i was thinking for doin a 1275 but your right the price on ebay for them are mad. i have loads of 998cc bits in garage. how much do you think you will have spent on it in total??
more than I should of done really, prob bout £850 in total, prob £350 of this is on machining work though (crank and fly balance, unleaded conversion and cam bearings inserted, valve seats recut, new valve stems inserted)
Parts wise Ive probably spent about £500 (U/L flywheel, cam, carb and megajolt I got quite cheaply as I bought them off a mate)

Chain no longer rubs on the case now, also I've redone the tappets, adjusted them to 12 thou, as per haynes
Set them 16 thou, as per kent cams
Nice to see another 998-276 combo what carbs are you going for?

I'm running Hif44 + KN with a BDL needle.
Works fine with light oil but still have to try another fuelling/ignition combos as i've had other carbs in the car before and still have to some 'fine tuning'.

Who has a Dyno? LOL
I dont know i will have a run someday (hopefully in few weeks) just to have a print out to see where i could improve.
That would be 100 miles + the charge..just for running on a roller.

Sorry, will keep it secret from now on
Just need fine tuning aswell on mine, mixture and timing mainly, megajolt should sort the timing out though

Next tinkering was to have a look at the carb, after doing some reading on tinterweb turns out I had my jet adjusted too high, have adjusted it now, I was running it too lean and it was bogging down and idling erratically. Filled the radiator with 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze and gave it a go and its sounding much better and throttle response is much crisper and sharper.
Tommorow I'm going to use the gas analyser to set the idle mixture precisely and also look at the timing again as I have it too advanced, needs retarding about 4 degree.
Then last job to do is adjust the camber brackets as its uber negative and rubbing the arches (even after I have trimmed them) looks like it needs about 2 degree taking off!
