update:
got the rear end in primmer today, next to do is the boot lid then i can move on to the sides of the car, starting with the passenger side as its already 75% done . got my car cover in the post its abit too big for the mini, but it does protect it and it was £15 so i can't complain.
that was the 1st coat and you can see in the last picture the work that had to be done to the light, however this and a few scratches was all that needed sorting and so they were easily fixed
gave it 1 more coat and thats how i finished the day, few places need sanding with wet and dry but really there isn't much that needs doing and so after another coat it will be completely finished
looks so good being all one colour, makes the de-seamed mk1 rear look ace!
then on went the boot lid hinges to ensure it was all fitting well
then he was tucked away for the night
that is all, may be going to the sea side tomorrow so next update will be monday evening ......

wow thank you, I'm chuffed to hear that you think that about my build, i find other peoples builds inspiring but never thought for a moment that my build would be inspirational. Comments like yours mean alot as it can be hard to carry on with a restorarion on our own and things like this really help, look forward to hearing from you again.

Im all caught up with your project!....
It makes a great story.
I don't mean to be condescending but from the start to finish its obvious how much you have grown up and matured since getting the mini - both in your posting/writing, knowledge base of the jobs involved, and skills learnt and even onto giving others advise and helpful tips!! Im sure you've learnt an extremely useful skill set that you will use throughout your life! I would have loved to able to tackle this project when I was your age!!
My one regret in life is the choice I made in 1998 to send my beloved 1978 (T) Austin (MK IV) to the scrappers - WOV 751T in Brown - BLVC367
Mace (AMP) - RIP the brown bomber!!
....I didn't have the skills, time or money to fix it and my mum didn't like it dripping oil at the top of her driveway!!
I would advise to you to never ever sell this project.....you have put so much into it you'll never return its true value. (you'll always have need for a second car trust me!!)
I cant wait to see the finish you achieve with the paint! Im far too impatient whenever painting things and always rush the prep....I know its the most important stage........
It has to be said that your Dad and you are very good at finding a bargain! Great work again..
