I have been told that it is the drain hole and the 'lip' is different. Not so sure on the lip though.
I know that it is a Mk3 shell, there is dispute on the year that Mk3-Mk4 that being 1976/7

mine is a mk3 its a very early 77 and has all the mk3 features my mate has a mk4 and mine is totally different

also it depends on who produced the car austin, leyland etc

This is interesting. My car which was registered in Feb '78 and built in '77 by Leyland has exactly the same gutter rail. My mates car is a '76 registered Leyland and it is exactly the same as mine. How many bolts are in each side of the front subframe where it meets the front panel on both your cars ? Do you both have twin stalk steering columns ? and Ignition barrels on the column ?

Nice, but, why didn't you choose to weld the roll bar ?
Regards.

i chose not to weld as later on i may decide to change the cage or if i need to get to a point and the bar is in the way i could just move that section out of the way rather than having to cut it out many reasons really but theres no reason why not to bolt so i bolted it in plus bolt in cages are alot easier to source and i would be able to give the lengths but not the angles as i fear i would measure this incorrectly

yes i have the twin stalk and ignition on the column, however the only cars that didnt were the mk1's and mk2's also im not sure about yours but mine has a centre console ??? i think my car is one of the funny years which was the transition to mk4

this is how my car would have looked as he was telling me what the seats and steering wheel were originally like before the seats ripped and he replaced them

Hi, hope you don't think i'm trying to cause an argument about this :)
I'm certain that both of your cars are mk4 shells. Twin stalk columns were introduced on the mk4 (the mk3 only had 1), your gutter rails are the mk4 type (i.e they don't have the over hanging drip rails), the hole in the rear seat for a spit was discontinued on the mk4 shell. Also more subtle things like the dash vents, these were introduced on the mk4 and also the fuse box, mk4's have 4 inline fuses as opposed to the mk3's 2. Both of our shells are exactly alike

There was a cross over period around that time, I have some but not all mk3 features

What are the mk3 features on your car ? I'm intrigued by how Leyland used to mix and match parts :)

I have the hole in rear seat, the fuse box is the fuse type and I think it had the single stalk. Also has the non reverse rear lights
