Including wiring up omex shift lights ( only took a year)
Wired up An override switch for electric fan so can trigger it before thermostat switches in / or keep it on longer
A few things bought ready to fit

Bought this … then made this …

Boring service bits

Then this ‘area’ …… before

After …. When bits decide to turn up - keep watching
Oh then went out in metro and 2 new jobs raised their heads ….. typical

Got several jobs on the go …..
While replacing all cooling system , spotted old silver heat mat on bulkhead … replaced with left over gold from bonnet

Rad, electric fan , water pump , sender all back in … just waiting for new fan thermostat sender for bottom of rad

Anyone got a spare bulkhead plate - ( large plate behind carb) ?

Got a new one of these ….. couple of reasons
1 - new design has locating pin part of collar - old design used existing bolt from old collar and after this hardened pin fought against the alloy during its hard and short life it opened up the hole which in turn left me with twisting movement on gear lever when in gear !
2- the top threaded section of gear lever snapped clean off ( gear knob in hand … vicar) while at a junction

Sorting out problem 2
The gear extension was the problem here …. All the pressure was on chamfered section due to threaded section on gear lever being too long for ‘box section on extension ‘
See the problem … waiting around the corner … waiting until I was at a busy junction …

How it sat

How I needed it to sit - mounting point spread along thickest part of shaft ( stop it!) and on threaded section

Drilled through box section and washer and bolt from top ( sorry no pic… will do when in situ)
Then drilled out thread of inner mounting collar ( as of course the thread was never going to be the same was it ?) then chamfered to fit profile of lever

Have fitted new lever in , just waiting on some bits then will put all back together and take some pics……
Before you ask …. I. Didn’t want to butcher/ cut down thread on lever , to get section to sit further down
( plus I can take it off and fit standard knob if I wanted to later) …. Rather butcher a £10 gear extension !
Plus other jobs to follow
