As the title says really. I want to mount my engine sideways on to an engine stand so which mounting points are the best and what size bolts have you used in the past.
Thanks folks
Hi enterpryse I Found the best to mount my engine was to do it from the flywheel side. I removed the flywheel cover and used 5/16 x 4.4 inch unc bolts and some washers. You can get these bolts from www.rimmerbros.co.uk. These are actually bolts for land rover trasmission if it helps. Just make sure you unc thread or they wont fit. Hope this helps mate

You can either fabricate a bespoke mount or drill holes in the mounting plate of the stand to bolt the engine on.
Dont bother with the arms that come with the stand they are better for bellhousing bolts of conventional gearbox on end engines.
Try an "engine stand" search as there have been a few photos on the forum over the last year or so which will help you.

Are all the bolts on the flywheel side of the block 5/16 UNC (block and gearbox) It may sound daft but I bought some bolts today and they really don't seem happy after the threads start to bite..... so I stopped!!
