Amazing work as always, gotta admire what you're doing here. I honestly thought that this wouldn't get done!!

A tip..

If you're gonna be fitting the front end, fit the subframe first, makes lining up the panels easier and theres less chance of misalignment when you do come to fit the frame.

This is car thats gonna fool people at shows!!

- Round tunnel
-mk3 gutters
-mk4 parcel shelf
-single bolt frame!!

Square tunnel now

Just in case there is any confusion. It's always been a square tunnel, but they are round from the front view & rear view.

all i can say it wow i really have to take my hat off to you, you alone have proven people wroung when they automaticly think thats to far gone bet they looked at yours and said the same thing and youve just proven them all wroung i love it how you have the balls to take such a big project on :shifty:

Thanks, all compliments gratefully received.

Progress seemed a bit slower this week. The inner wings take alot of preparation & welding on. I've got the drivers side on & will press on with the passenger side this week. I've got the front subframe I purchased at Malvern into the workshop for a quick strip down too. The drivers door I got from ebay ages ago looked really good. But on closer inspection the lower hinge mount is bent from an accident or removal. So will have to spend some time seeing if it can be salvaged. Will post some pics asap. The internet supply at home has died..! So just adding what I can at work.

Thanks Andy, yep got a full time job. I try & do an hour or so most evenings setting up or preparing & a day at weekends doing the big stuff like welding etc. I've tried to plan it all as best I can & make sure I've got all the stuff I need in advance. It's a little behind schedule but I'm hoping to catch up a bit over xmas break. These pesky inner wings have taken quite a while!

Ok, had a look at the drivers door. I mounted it to see how it looked. Not a bad fit actually. But not helped by the mounting face for the lower hinge as it's bent. Bought from ebay so unknown how it got that way. Possibly accident. Looking at my old rusty door for reference I could see the mounting frame is quite substantial & not easily cut & welded. So without much else to lose the BIG hammer came out. I cut a square hole just behind the mounting & using an old socket extension persuaded it back to a reasonable shape. Quite happy with result. Just gotta do another trial fit to see how it lines up now. I've added some pictures of before & after, but I don't think they show how badly bent it was.

It was BIG hammer night all round. I had bought a subframe from Malvern, virtually complete suspension minus hubs. The seller hadn't been able to separate one trumpet from the rubbber doughnut. A couple of weeks soaking in WD40 & BIG hammer sorted that. I must put the hammer away now before I do any damage!

This weeks update. Despite snow, ice & very sub zero temperatures. The passenger inner wing has been welded on. Looks fine. Got the passenger door off too. Just two hours nibbling away with a hacksaw blade due to seized lock. Good news is now the shell is more metal than rust & has quite a solid feel to it. Next scuttle panel..! Sorry for poor picture quality. Cold killed the batteries on the camera.

Week off work this week, so managing to get a bit more done. Scuttle panel & closing plates welded on. Then fitted front subframe, front panel & bonnet. the bonnet, wings & front panel were all ebay auction wins. The front panel is the only non-heritage panel so far. It doesn't look too bad fit when the wings are offered up. But I won't weld a thing until I'm happy everything will align. Bonnet took a while to get right but happy so far.
