Thanks Hugh, certainly a ground breaking moment getting the engine running. Although there shouldn't be any issues with the engine it's always nice to check. Also I like to think it has become a car overnight, not just a shiny & expensive garage ornament. Just the short but important list to work through before test drive. Shame the weather has changed, it's been dry for weeks. The driving video will be fun.Brilliant! It is such a good rebuild. Been a real joy over the past couple of years following this from the car in the hedge! That engine is idling so sweet. I look forward to a wee video of it being driven!

I'll be around this weekend...what do you think your chances are against my beast:Weekend update. Did most of the jobs required for the test drive. Aldon Ignitor installed & timing adjusted to run. Final heater hose routed correctly. Fuel pump relay secured in an enclosure in the boot. (photo to follow) Both front hub nuts tightened. Headlamp wiring tidied up. Was seriously considering taking for a test drive last night, despite the light rain. But there was a fuel leak from around the fuel pump so decided to put it off for a couple of days in the interests of safety. Don't want to go out with my arse on fire on the first drive! Seems the pipes clips & filter just needed tightening. Also glad I had a ferret around. I had used some second hand fuel pump rubber mounts (couldn't find my new ones) & one had broken already. New ones now located. But while I've got the back end up in the air I might as well do another couple of jobs. The exhaust has settled a bit & needs a bit of tweeking to be in the right place. The positive battery cable is a bit tight in the boot, so will have to adjust that. Also the small handbrake cable guides need fitting to the tunnel. So nothing major. But worth the extra time to get right. weather looks good this week for the test drive.

That's a pretty good video. Very smooth footage. Lots of fiestas got left in your dust there. Infact know one seems to be getting anywhere near you. LIstened to it on the headphones, so get some of the engine noise. When you going to do Prescott for fun? As for the mini. Well on paper it won't have as much power. But the advantage of the Caterham is it's lack of weight by minimalism. I see you have a windscreen, doors, rear view mirror, four wheel arches. The mini doesn't have these things...yet. So that could make it the dark horse! More bugs in my teeth!

The electrical enclosure I added for the fuel pump relay in the boot. Maybe a little over the top but it's safe from stuff stored in the boot.
Also a metal heater pipe I used to cross over the manifolds. It's from an MGB. Used some brackets to bolt it too the manifold studs.
