Quick mid-week update. Had first the pass bleeding the brakes with a Gunson's easi-bleed. No leaks which is nice. Have got some pedal, pumps up abit. So presume still got plenty of air in system. Also ran out of brake fluid. So will try again tomorrow. One step closer to rolling if I can stop.

Still working on the brakes this week. Have partial pedal. Just going round eliminating possible causes. Still not sure if it's air or adjustment type issues. Have one new arch fitted & another painted ready for a polish.

brakes bleeding,...bleedin brakes.....I would suspect still air somewhere, same with all new fill-up's, I had the same with MUK, in the end I let gravety just do it's thing, one brake at the time, attach clear hose and open brake nipple a lttle, put through a hole in the lid into jam jar with little brake fluid in the bottum(vacuum), then top up master cylinder and leave the top off, gravety will do the rest, just keep and eye on it now and then and see if any air is pushed through the hose, and if master cylinder needs topping up.
I am sure yr thinking, why is he telling me all this........

Don't forget brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. Short periods are ok, but leaving the cap off for too long could absorb moisture that could corrode the internals of components. New bottles of fluid have a foil seal to prevent moisture ingress and so also have a limited shelf life when opened. .

Hi, If you are having trouble bleeding on a system with the rear brake limiter valve, I can sympathise. I tried with an easy-bleed and failed, and even with a traditional 2 man bleed we got nowhere at first. You have to be very gentle on the down stroke to avoid closing the brake limiter valve. If that locks off at all you won't be able to bleed anything on the atnospheric side of it.

Thanks, I'll give this a go. My theory is at the moment that the master cylinder (0.7") bore isn't moving enough fluid for a single line system. I have the larger bore rear slave cylinders & minisport four pot calipers on the front. I'll try every beeding method going, but I am ultimately looking at changing the master cylinder for something with a bit more piston capacity. I see on here some people have used a clutch master cylinder (0.75"). I'm looking at going for a 7/8" (0.875) bore girling master cylinder with remote reservoir. But will exhaust all options first.

Thanks, I'll make sure not to leave it open too long. Especially with all this rain in summer.

Hello Mike, when the limiter closed did it stop all fluid coming through? I have had no problems so far getting fluid out of the rears. Just don't seem to have a very good pedal. Almost hits the floor first go, then second go it comes up better.
