Thanks. Well some of it's the same mini. Mr.Heritage provided the rest. Plus some welding wire. Trust me if I was trying to pull a fast one it would have been faster...! lol.

It should give confidence to those who think theirs are rusty.

Great work!

Coming along nicely there, picture of the sill stiffener but this is a home fabbed one but gives you an idea of how it goes
Posted Image
The tang that welds onto the closeout panel should be longer but i shortened mine to match the other side.

Hope this helps

Neil

Was wondering, is the outer flange of this stiffener panel supposed to be welded to the rear quarter? I've never seen any references to such a join, but on my mini the remains of the stiffener were brazed to the rear quarter. Is this correct? Does the outer edge just dangle free?

Cheers
Mike

Hello Mike, my uhderstanding is the stiffener does not need too be attached to the quarter panel. If anything there is a small gap. The stiffener is just for the inner sill top edge.hope that helps.

Pretty much as Jagman has said it does NOT attach to the rear quarter. Now that would make a classic water trap if it did.

Weekend update. Connected all the servo pipes up, so ready to bleed the brakes. Have been playing with the 13" wheels & front suspension. I knew the wheels take some work to fit. Having used templates to trim the wings was no garauntee. So looks like I need to do some small modifications. Also the fibreglass arches are just not wide enough to cover the tyres for me. So the arches will be replaced. Will surprise you with the replacements. Fingers crossed they turn up soon & I can get the wheels/suspension sorted asap.

Hi, yes thanks for that, seems a bit like an afterthought to me but that's what I was hoping. Today I have the job of putting together the jigsaw puzzle of rear wheel arches, sill stiffeners, closing panels and rear bins. Hope I have enough clamps...

Cheers
Mike

Ok, wheel arch extention update. I wasn't happy with the group 6 arches over the 13" wheels. They are good quality, but just not wide enough. As I wanted this style I went on the hunt for something similar. I always liked the ones designed by Dirk on his mini cooper on this forum. Same style but just alot wider. Luckily for me during the time I have been building this mini they are now available from ABS motorsport as the Mexico 2 wide type. Lots of good pictures on the ABS website. I see also they are available from the Mclean Bros. website. Anyway they were delivered a week after ordering, well packaged. They are certainly wide enough to do the job. They aren't as flexible as the original type I was using. But no wonder as there is alot more fibreglass to try & flex. Only a couple of the mounting holes need redrilling. I've trimmed & drilled the new arches & painted one so far. Some initial pictures of n/s rear below. Will try not to get so distracted with trim stuff & bleed the brakes tomorrow.

It is looking rather nice. I am seeing signs of headlining going in - I would like to see how you tackle that jagman.2003. Such an enjoyable read.

Looking forward to seeing those wheels. I do like wheels & how they finish a car off.

Ahhh, the headlining. Yes it has been hanging around for some time. I started the installation a couple of months ago. But stopped due to frustration. Just couldn't see how to get it straight. I've since been doing some more searching the internet for ideas & tips. Also chatted to aquaintances to get opinions. Hopefully I'm making more of this than necessary. Will have to give it go in the next couple of weeks as it will start holding up progress. Will hopefully post up enough detail to be of help to others.
