I will be using your thread to inspire my son to rebuild his original car ( Tango GT ) and then put it away in storage. I wish i still had my first car, A 1961 cooper s! but in those days, scrapping a mini was not so frowned upon.

Thanks, I thought the rivnuts would be handy where I wouldn't be able to attach plain nuts. But like you say I have started using them elsewhere for trim.I like the attention to detail, I too used rivnuts for the arches on Yoda during a recent rear end crash repair, saves the rusty screw holes ! so did it all round to be sure.

I scrapped a mini a few years ago & regret doing that now based on their value. But it seemed the right decision at the time.

I was great to see it out in the fresh air on four wheels. Looks alot more like a car now.So nice of you to show him where you found him 2 yrs ago, very nice indeed, proud moment for you for sure, nearly there....

I really enjoy bolting on the shiny bits. I have to hold back & not rush things though. It's looking brilliant! I'd love to be bolting all those shiny bits back together to such a great looking shell!

Can't beat a good cardboard tube for gear changing. Soaks up vibration, plenty cunky grip, easily replaced from the post office. Just don't spill your coffee on it as it goes limp..!looking good, shiny things...... like your retro gear lever

"It was great to see it out in the fresh air on four wheels." I love this thread since your Mini started out as fresh air on four wheels.
