Quick update, lots of odd jobs this weekend. Not much to show in photos though. Fitted the metal pipes to the rear radius arms. Also fitted the rear lights to add some shiny bits to the back end.

Ok, been on holiday this week in Cornwall. Only saw one mini sadly. But it was a nice BRG with white roof, 13" wheels on the A39. I feeling very smug after timing it perfectly with the weather. Anyway back to the mini project. I was going to buy some new front hubs, but spent the money on other parts. So I've dug out some old disc hubs that I have been using to roll another project around. They'll need a complete refurb but they are fairly clean so it shouldn't take too long. This will be the third time I've used them & the third time I'm refurbishing them. Good recycling principle there..? Hoping to get lots more lovely work done this weekend.

Thanks Minimuk. Hoping to get them all nice & shiny soon. Stripped them down the other evening. Just waiting for some bearings to arrive.

Made a start on lining up the engine for this mini. In true Blue Peter fashion here's one I built earlier! Alot earlier. I built it in about 1990. It's had a couple of fettles since but really hasn't been used enough since then. Probabaly only about 10k. This was one of the main drivers & motivation to do another mini & use this engine. It's of 1275 A-series base with a few go faster bits. Lightened flywheel & straight cut box. It drove into the workshop in another vehicle so I know it runs ok. I'll be giving it a small make over. New water pump, thermostat housing, change some seals etc. & a quick touch up on the paint.

No it's been in a car, so ran/driven occasionally, took it out this weekend.

Just scanned through the photos on all 26 pages,
What a fantastic job, cant wait to see it at some shows - when will it be on the road? Looks like you are getting pretty close now.

Great job, keep up the good work

Thanks, much appreciated. Hoping to get it on the road in the next month or two. There's a few unknown areas that might hold me up. But looking forward to getting it done.

Easter update. I've been sprucing up the engine. Cleaned & painted alot of the ancilliares. Still some more bits to bolt on tomorrow. Put new output seals, crank pulley seal, gear selector seal, temp sender, thermostat & stainless thermostat housing stubs. New uprated water pump & kevlar bypass as well. It's no where near a concourse finish. But certainly a bit cleaner. Tomorrow, clean up & fit the pot joints. Fit a fan belt if any car shops are open & then fit it into the front subframe. Then on with the front hubs. Should look pretty complete by the end of this nice long weekend. Should go faster if I eat lots of chocolate tomorrow.
