Quick update. I've been working on the rear subframe & suspension. I was hoping it would come together as quick as the front but it's fighting me a bit. I've been cleaning & painting lots of bits. The original subframe was stripped of all parts & the dust left behind swept into the bin. I've started flatting back the paint inbetween as well. More updates this weekend.

I've enjoyed reading all the updates......

I read somewhere that a Mini is basically two subframes joined together by a large bracket. That's some bracketwork.

Looks good. Is it hard to paint a mini?

Thanks, not that hard to paint. It's not a big car. Get's a bit more work when your doing the whole shell like mine. Lots of fiddly bits to work on, but not many big flat areas to cause grief.

Thanks for the reply, it's only the outside of my shell that could use a repaint on some area's. I'm thinking about doing it myself to keep the costs down

It's not that difficult to do some touch ups or a blow over. But as ever it's the preparation that counts. Worth looking at the posts on the tech forum here to get an idea of what's needed. You can polish up a bad spray job but not if it's sprayed on a ploughed field.

Main part of a new wiring loom run through the roof rail. Luckily I rememberd to run some wire through when I removed the old loom to feed the new one back through. I think I've worked out where the rest goes. Helped by the trusty haynes manual wiring diagram. If only all the colours matched up.
More to come this weekend.

Some more jobs done this weekend. Waxoyl & cavity wax applied to the shell. Some more work on the loom. The wiper motor, mechanism, blanking plugs & washers fitted. Nice to fit a few bling bits. Might try & find a better wiper motor cover. Also wasted some time looking for the parts I needed. But hopefully I've found all the bits I'll need later. More cleaning painting & fitting next week.

one thing I have learned with finishing a mini, got to have patience and plan ahead, specially fitting old things back who would be better replaced with new ones in the first place, and fitting bits, washers,bolts,nuts,self-tappers,spring washers, etc, you got to have enough of those bits,...plan ahead, otherwise it is stop-start-stop-start all the way. same with the electrics, get your crimping set with all the connector bits you might need before you start that.I don't know why I am telling you this, you probably have sorted all this already.
enjoy the ride to the finish line ;D

Thanks, your right. I thought I had it all covered but the first things I fit I'm missing or lost some parts. I even pinched some bits for other cars & forgot..! No doubt despite much planning I will still be ordering rush parts. The only thing that's helping right now is I've made a list of jobs I can do for the next couple of weeks. So I can always refer to that if I'm held up & still move on. Thanks for the advise again.

If anyone else reading this has done the main loom before. Does the purple & white wire for the r/h door switch run over the top of the windscreen?
