Something I've been re-furbishing in the back ground is the carb for the engine. Will make a nice howling noise when on song behind the dashboard.

Had a busy weekend with some other mini antics & Himley Hall so had a day off today to get some things done on the MK3. Started some repairs to the drivers door pillar as it's a bit crusty. Rounding up some of the final brackets too. Bonnet stay bracket was saved from the old panel & reused. Handbrake bracket welded on. Rear seat stay. Rear arch bracing brackets & tank retaining bracket. Then finished up the passenger front tubbed arch. Hoping to get all the welding finished in the next week.

Well for me I've saved the best till last. The drivers upper door frame was pretty crusty. I've cut out the section out between the two curves & a bit of the flange from the roof. That got rid of all the grotty bits. First job was to put a new flange edge on the roof. Then recreate the horizontal section. Lucky bit for me was an offcut from a full rear quarter. It included a piece of guttering & some of the frame shape. I'd have struggled to make it look decent without it. The shape of the rear side window upper frame is very similar to the door frame with some minor adjustments in reverse. It has taken me the best part of two weeks but it looking good now so my patience has paid off. I never nibbled so much with a file. Also the ideas & tips from this forum has given me direction. Hard to capture it well in pics. But progress so far.
