Drove the mini for the first time, just up and down the drive way... man i cant wait to get it out on the road.

Posted Image
left it running for 20 minutes out in the sunshine, the fan kicked in and it didnt go over halfway on the temp gauge.

cleaned it then set upon fitting my front.
Posted Image

quite happy with the fit on the drivers side.
Posted Image

It would seem my car is slightly wider than the front, therefore the wings are being slightly stretched apart leaving me with a panel gap between the wing and bonnet i can fit my finger in, but hey ho, its inkeeping the rest of the car.

Looking good Liam, get some of them rubber strips to keep the water at bay if the gap is too big

On course for Germini?

Its finished. but sadly ill miss Germany, i called up insurance and its a extra 400 quid to insure if i want the policy to start before germany, or 400 quid cheaper if i wait till my birthday later in the month, as much as ide like to take it i cant warrant 1200 quid to insure my second car.

took it drag racing saturday. did a 10.2 second 8th mile run in the wet beating a delta intergrale, supercharged mx5 and a RX8.

and finished painting it yesterday.

Very good question, alot more than I first anticipated.

The engine itself was very cheap but lots of little bits soon add up, and I've lost track. 1500 start to finish? Inc new front, brakes, fuel pump, paint etc. But I have also carried out alot of other modifications to the car whilst it was off the road like debumpering etc.

Light weight, more power, more gears cheaper. Although it's only a 116hp an a series would of cost a lot more and last a lot less, every time a k series blows up it's £50 to replace rather than thousands.

Things to consider when making a frame, drive shaft paths/lower arm mounts and master cylinder/inlet manifold clearance.

Another bonus is that the 143 and 160hp vvc motors will drop straight into my frame on a metro box.

im doing the same conversion in mine. what 0 - 60 times you getting? im gonna be running 10's on mine. i got the engine for free. now that is cheap power. and i also got given a 1.4, which im thinking of giving forced induction.

Heck that year went by quickly, it doesn't seem long ago reading your first post from last year, well done for making it to Castle Combe.

I thought that was your car as it went past! I'm sat in the passenger seat of that orange clubby.
