Nice build, I will admit I am not a engine swap person but there is something about this car that just so cool, with matte paint and a nice lump up front some fat 10's defo think this a good one. nice work...

its nothing special but i wouldn't be without it.

It is special, I climbed your roll cage like monkey bars and it even does 1 wheel burnouts on the grass at idle xoxo

Will have to go back quite a few weeks worth of photos as i do not update this thread often, but here goes:

Mini off spit so i could zinc prime and stone chip the engine bay.

image_1-1.jpeg

Had to buy all new solid mounts as my old ones were all broken.

image_2-1.jpeg

Subframe all painted up nice. remade the tie bar mount as the angle was wrong before and it used to chew the bushes in a month or so. Also replaced all the bushes and gaiters etc.

image_4-1.jpeg

Frame went back in.

image_5-1.jpeg

Changed the cambelt and water pump, then re fitted the engine, chucked a battery on and it primed for fuel and cranked to start so i have not broken anything during the resto so far...

image_6-1.jpeg

Repaired a section of the roof where the bonnet flew up on the old owner, it had been left broken the whole time i had owned it. bang tidy, would never know.

image_7.jpeg

image_8.jpeg

Also bought a new side exit exhaust, got bored of the centre exit maniflow and wanted a more subtle side exit, 65 quid off ebay with link pipe proper impressed with  it, and before you say it is on the wrong side of the car i know it is, i have a reason for this. It is only balanced in the photo, i need to extend it to fit the K series.

image_10.jpeg

I also painted the inside and fitted the roll cage, now i have the job ive been dreading the most which is making up the in/out fuel lines, brake lines and battery cables.

Feel sorry for you bro. Only thing I really need to do to finish my red mini is the brake lines. There a crap job and because of it I'v not touched the car in a month haha. Looking good though.

Nice job on the engine swap fella, never liked matt black cars but your looks hard with the clubby front!

If you're thinking of putting more holes in the rear valance, get yourself some hole swages. Brilliant bit of kit. The steel ones would last longer than the alloy versions but these were only about £17 on flee bay and you can get them in all different sizes.

Can you swage a valance though ? I thought because it was not flat the hole swage would not work.

Haha, never thought of that. Too single minded you see all I was seeing was the unfinished holes!  :shy:

Made up the 8mm copper lines for my fuel today, all the holes drilled, grommets installed and it looked tidy. Had 3 90 degree bends from the pump to engine, took a while to get it all tidy then when pulling the last bit through the front bulkhead I kinked the pipe. Had a tantrum and ripped it all out.

Ordered another roll and will try gain in the week.

Well this is my first update in over 6 months! although not as much progress as i had hoped i am nearly there.

Its back together and on its wheels. arches fitted, front fettled to fit as best as possible without buying a new one.

Roof finished, hoping to paint the body tomorrow, then in a week or so i will flat it all and give it a decent polish.

Will be nice to have some shine after it being matte black for years now.
