i finished the near side a week or two ago, and did the other side today. pictures below:
This was with it only clamped up for trial fit, it is now welded in completely.
A box with some of the chunks cut out and replaced so far. Went to remove the windscreen so i could remove and replace the scuttle and the mess at the top of the drivers flitch, but i smashed the screen. DOH!

It has been a little while since i last updated this thread but i have slowly been working on it at weekends.
99% of the welding on the shell is now complete, i ran out of gas before welding the roll cage plates on and the little brackets which attach the heel board to the inner sill.
i chucked some zinc primer over the underside today as i had nothing else to do, i will have to redo some patches when i weld the roll cage plates and seat sub frames in but oh well. Then i have 6 litres of black stone chip im hoping will cover the underside and the inside of the foot wells etc.
Its like industrial zinc primer i got from a friend, i dont know what is in it but it kept melting the roller sponges...
You can prob just about see my toe board reinforcement, its 2mm steel seam welded all around the edges and the steering rack mounts, then spot welded to the toe board, hopefully it will sort the issue i had previously. i have better pictures of this before paint if anyone is interested.
And this is the end result of the boot floor and arches, i had to remake so much of it i might aswell of got a new floor.
I also bought some new wheels and tyres for when its finished. 10x7 exaction splits i believe, with yoko A008s. Also some Miglia arches to cover these.

Was never happy with the rear valance as i fitted 7 years ago with limited knowledge of welding etc, and i just lined up the bumper holes and welded it on, this was fine until i debumpered it and there was a massive step i had to fill with filler. as i had a spare valance i thought i should re do it whilst it is on the spit etc.
This was the valance completely removed.
I then removed the bumper lip from the new valance whilst on the work bench, this has now been fitted correctly and tacked back on the car, once fully welded it will need the minimum amount of filler.
I am still undecided weather to hole saw it again.

Re made my seat sub frames, much more substantial now, a little higher than previously but the angle is much better.
Applied another coat of Zinc primer Saturday, hoping for it to dry so i could seam seal today and stone chip one night in the week, but this morning it was not quite 100% dry. So i cleaned up, repainted some bits and re assembled my rear sub frame. excuse the dust the subframe itself has been in the garage for a few months.
Had to replace my drums as a chunk broke off the original, so i sourced some minifins.

Prob drive it around like a gran from now onwards now I've spent so long sorting the shell out.
Would be a little bit more annoyed now if it got bent.

You can pop over any time, but I don't think your mini or polo would make the trip!

That had no effect on reliability, kinda.
