R65 box has started to death whine so I have a replacement ready, but this time with a 3.7fd.
I had some selector issues early on during the initial build and then again a couple years later when I rebuilt it which I feel may have contributed to its current near death condition.
Due to rebuilding a land rover and a house move early next year I imagine it will be tucked away for a while.

haha cheers, sounds a bit nasty! I'm on the edge of a k conversion and wanted to also use a metro box. Fair enough, good to still see that's it's about though

I would happily do the conversion again with the r65. If aiming for big power from the offset I would consider the pg1 but that brings its own weight penaltie and seem over the top.

Great, well that gives me hope! I was planning to just go stock 1.8 vvc, so I'll probably just try it out! and I think your on to something with the saxo box, as 5th gears can be swapped?
How was it on 10's, and cruising revs at 70 ? Sorry for all the q's

With the 3.9fd box its about 4300rpm at 70. Not ideal but it gets there rapid.
3.7 should be ever so slightly better.
