Yesterday i fitted the rest of the exhaust on my car from the manifold back.

I put the cat back on as the car came with a link pipe on.

Anyway when i put the exhaust on and tightened everthing back up the cat was jammed right up aginst the heatshield and the body.

Any ideas how i can fix this?

I can put the link pipe back on but i need it on for the MOT so i will be back to square one.

Are you sure the cat is on the right way round, also the lcb to cat pipe has a bend in it, is that the right way ?? Which also leads to the question - Is the downpipe collector ( Y piece) on the right way round

pretty sure the cat is the right way round.

the link pipe from the lcb has a swivel joint in it .

The Y piece i am not sure about, whta side does the lamda sensor hole go on it have pointing towards the driver door at the moment.

The sensor point faces the driver side. The swivel joint should be straight and the bend in the pipe at the cat end should center the cat. If this pipe is fitted with the bend the wrong way round the swivel will be at an angle and the cat wont be centered and the only way to get the rear section fitted is to move the cat away from center and then suffer with body fouling. The only other thing is the rear section is not hung correctly

Its either the y piece the wrong way or the lcb to cat pipe the wrong way

I am sure that i had the swivel joint pipe on the right the way but i will check when i refit it ( had to remove it because it was blowing) i think the cat was in the centre but just very high up.

I guess i could use longer rubber hangers at the back?
