Hi all, im Jay. I have just come back to mini's after a long time away from them. Im over in stroud and have just got my new project. Its a 1983 Mini City 998 which is now in my garage for a restoration. The car its self is in fair to good shape for its age, but i decided to take all the tin worm out and build a rot free shell. Im going to change the car a little by ways of ditching the 998 and rebuid the 1275 from my kit car. Im going to have a rebore to +0.20 taking it to 1298, the block will be decked, a new cam (poss a 266) and new folowers. I have a 12g940 head from a metro that already has large valves so will upgrade to twin spings and a port job. As for body, im going to build a cooper S look a like (cant aford a real one) but i will get as close as poss by means of a rear light conversion, twin tanks, over riders ect ect. Well enough of me, my buid is in the complete rebuid section on the main forum for those who want to look and follow.

So i guess this is where i say, where do i join you clan and sign up? and i hope to meet some of you at your meetings sometime soon.

Hi Jay,

Welcome to SMAC and the Mini Forum.

Well we meet at the Kingsdown pub the first Monday of each month at 8pm. However if you are about we will have a club stand at the Castle Coombe Mini Action day on Saturday.
Let us know if you are going on Saturday so we can keep an eye out for you.

The next meeting is Monday 4th at 8pm.

Martin.

The car will get a light coat of colour to seal it foe the time being but come the summer she will go to a body shop for a full respray. For christmas i got new MK2 rear light kit, bumper over riders (just need to get the corner bars) Austin cooper bonnet badge, front S badge. Rear Austin cooper script (need to go and collect it) and rear S badge. Now looking for the MK2 grille to complete the body look. Also waiting for my new bonnet which is being custom made for me as it is a MK2 (no lip) but with the later hinges fitted.

Now that the car is legal and back on the road i hope to come and see some of you at your local meets, so dates for the next one would be great. Hope to see some of you soon.

Hi Guys N Girls, sorry i didnt get to the last meet but you know what its like with a fresh engine build, you have to get all the gremlins out. Well the car has been on the road for a few days now and most of the bugs are gone. Had dizzy problems to start with so got shot of that and fitted a 52d vacumless item which works realy well, then had sticky throttle monster which is now sorted, then a brake line leak - again sorted. Now i just need my new speedo and cable so i know how fast/slow im going and complete the rest of the run-in miles so i can go for the tune on the rolling road. Hopefully in the next month it will be going in for the paint job so i dont have to keep driving round in Porus high build primer. I might also have to look at getting a taller diff than the 3.44 i dont like screemy engines on the duel carrage way but i guess i can put up with that for a while.

Anyway, now that she is running and on the road and the miles are going on its time to start enjoying "little coop" rather than just spending all the time so work allowing ill be up for the next meet and or any other little gatherings you all have, All the miles help get me closer to the run in target of 700 that i have set myself.
